Basic amenities but the cottages are clean and have a fantastic view of the lake. The food served is freshly cooked and delicious. All the staff are friendly, cheerful and very helpful. We had a wonderful time. 

vast greenery.. nice water sports n lot of sight seeing.  Good food n comfortable stay. friendly staff. nature walk n jog falls visit was good. we even saw honnavar n murudeshwar way back. Good gateway for a weekend 

Wonderful place filled with helpful and friendly people. The water games are entertaining. Do ask for annappan who took us for a nature walk. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. Kudos to the kitchen team who fed us  delicious meals 😋.  Don't miss visiting this place.

Fantastic View of the reservoir. Well organised trip to Jog falls. Fun water sports.
The food was simple and tasteful. Right after this we stayed at River Tern lodge another Jungles lodges property where the options were more. This wasn’t really an issue for us as we are not a big fans of vast spread which taste just average.

It's An awesome place. It's on the side of the talakalele reservoir. They have some 18 cottages to offer and most of them provide a nice view. Don't miss out the sunset view from balcony. 

Cottages are 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 1 balcony away from each other cottages. Reaching some of the cottages need some amount of steps, walking and climbing. 

There is a boat ride, kayaking, swimming etc already part of the package. But jetski is charged extra. They take for 30 minutes of ride itself. On the first day afternoon we did all these and really enjoyed boating and kayaking.
Next day morning they took us to Jog falls, showed both front and side views. On the way also some bird watching experience.  

By the time we are back from jog falls, it was time for breakfast and then freshen up and check out.

Based on our experience, the following suggestions:
Day1: 
check-in at 1 pm, you can also have lunch here they will call you to confirm your veg/non-veg  preference
Have lunch and take some rest
4 pm they start boating and water activities
545 to 6 pm watch sunset, from balcony preferably
Dinner at 8 or 9 pm
Day2:
Tea served at 645 am
Vehicle to jog falls at 7am or 715 am
Option to go for a nature Trek instead of jog falls
Food they serve is simple but tasty. Also the staff is friendly and nice
Tip: if possible avoid weekend rush and book on a Friday or Monday stay.


This is a fantastic property - we really enjoyed our (one-night) stay here.  Very reasonably priced, large clean rooms with a lovely view of the reservoir, extremely genuine and helpful staff, and a fun range of activities to keep one occupied throughout ones stay. 

Food was good - simple south Indian meals (typical JLR style) and plenty of snacks to keep one full throughout the stay.  The boat ride on the reservoir in the evening was a fun, relaxing way to wind down after our drive in, and the hike to the top of the hill near the resort the following morning an excellent way to see the sunrise from an amazing vantage point.  

Our stay here was for a night simply to break a long drive from Bangalore to Karwar into more comfortable bits.  Initially my friends asked why I had booked this place instead of just driving directly to Karwar.  At the end of our trip, everybody wished we'd spent more than just a night there.

I do have a few suggestions for improvement - 1) better and brighter (warm) lighting in the rooms, 2) a phone or some sort of intercom facility to contact the staff from the room as there's no internet/mobile reception at the room and it does rain heavily during the monsoons, 3) a small partition or curtain for the shower in the bathroom.  But these are just minor points and I would highly recommend visiting.

It's a beautiful serene resort on the banks of the Sharavathi river. We visited in the monsoon and climate was just too good. The staff is very cooperative and will take care of your needs. The rooms are squeaky clean with a superb view of the water. One has to just sit on the balcony and enjoy the view. It's totally relaxing. The water sports are fun. Food is good and for the price point it's more than what they should be offering 😊 It's an excellent place for bird watching.

‘Sharavathi Adventure Camp’ belongs to Jungle Lodges and is located in a stunning location which is so beautiful. Within the 10KM range there are 2 reservoirs and world famous Jog Falls. 

Booked this property online in the jungle lodges website.  While making the payment, they provide the option to the customers to select the payment gateway. Which I felt ridiculous. I selected paytm as a gateway, but the transaction failed. Amount deducted and booking failed. I have to wait for 10 days to get back the money. Later selected another gateway and booking went through. Later, no issues with the booking.

Started from Bangalore around 5AM and reached the destination around 12:45 PM. Got a courtesy call from the resort around 11:45 AM. 

Check In was smooth and they displayed a board about the activities. Provided a welcome greeting with wi-fi passcode written and it worked well. You have to come to the restaurant area or to the reception area to get internet access. I was allotted room no. 17 and 18 which are a little far from the restaurant. If you are travelling with kids and women with any knee issues, ask them to provide rooms closer to the restaurant area. 

Property is very good with clean and neat rooms. Food is basic, but super tasty. They have free boat ride, coracle rides, kayaking and visits to jog falls(can choose between visit to Jog falls or Nature walk). They also provide paid Jet-Ski.

This is a nice property right in front of a beautiful mega reservoir. The water sports activities are excellent and kids friendly. The restaurant is nice and has excellent views of the reservoir. The suset from here is amazing. Prices are reasonable and service is prompt. If you are visiting Shimoga area then go for this without a doubt.

We visited Sharavathi Adventure Camp, a Jungle Lodges and Resorts property, located close to the Jog Falls. Stayed there for 2 nights and had the best time ever. Beautiful, well maintained property with amazing views of the dam backwaters. The cottages are spacious with a large sitout / balcony to enjoy the views as well as dry out your wet clothes. The food is tasty and in keeping with usual JLR standards. Activities included a visit to Jog Falls and couple of other view points, boat ride on the backwaters, bird watching and kayaking. Great fun for the entire family.....
Special thanks to the manager Mr. Karthik for making our stay enjoyable and our guide Mr. Anil whose knowledge of birds and their habits was amazing. We stayed for 2 nights and i highly recommend the same to enjoy a leisurely experience. The property is quite big and you can spend time exploring the environs. 
Monsoon is the best time to visit Jog Falls and see them in their full splendour but if you want to enjoy other activities like watersports and bird watching then the ideal time is just after the end of the monsoons.
The resort arranges for a quick visit to Jog Falls view point but if you want on your own you can climb down around 1200 plus steps to the bottom of the Falls. Also there are paid water activities like jet skiing available at the resort.
Overall we had an awesome time and would love to come back some day.

We stayed 1 night @ the Sharavathi Adventure Camp. The cottages are built on a hillock overlooking the Talakalale Reservoir. The Resort is peaceful & good food is served for all 3 meals with mainly  local fresh  fish & chicken. The Staff are very attentive & caring. There is not much to do except relax. They take you for a boat ride in the Reservoir in the evening & an early morning trip to Jog Falls which is only 6 kms. Basically a place to relax & do nothing & enjoy nature. The bonus was meeting the Chief Naturalist of all Jungles Lodges Mr.Aniketh who is a treasure trove of info.

One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to Jog Falls but the Sharavathi Adventure Camp was a wonderful find. 

Being a regular JLR property guest, we decided to stay at this place for two nights given our desire to see the magnificent falls. The property is located at the reservoir created by the dam near Jog Falls. All the cottages have an amazing view of the reservoir that instantly calms you and is very serene. Since it is located on the hills, there are stone steps to reach the cottages. Check-in was smooth and the staff was professional and made our stay comfortable. The buffet had a good spread. The river fish served must be tried and it was the freshest catch we had ever eaten. 

The cottages are spacious and have a balcony where one can sit and enjoy the lovely scenery. We stayed at a regular cottage (Cottage 5) that had basic amenities like water jug, kettle, cups in the room. There was a stand for drying clothes in the balcony. Toiletries included soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, hand wash and towels. The regular cottage needed paint work as there were some stains on the walls inside. 

The main itinerary in the package - visit to the falls includes the back and front views which was amazing at this time of the year. The camp provides fun water sport activities like motorboat ride, pedal boat ride, kayaking, jet ski (additional cost). The water trampoline was something new, but we didn’t try that. However, the kids at the camp and a few adults enjoyed it. The water activities are available for people not staying at the property for a nominal fee.

The roads from Bengaluru to the property are in very good condition for the most part. State Highway (SH) 1 is a bit worn out with potholes in some places. The last 2 km to the camp is quite bad. Fortunately the stay at the camp made it worth the distance and effort.

Based on the location and ambiance, I would have given 5-stars. But there are some minor improvements needed - and hence 4-star rating.

This is located next to reservoir and hence a very beautiful view of water body surrounded by hills. Amazing place!

The rooms are no-frills (no AC and no TV). This is actually what I liked - staying in nature without modern amenities!

They operate on 1-day package (rated per person) - all inclusive, with boating in the evening and trip to Jog Falls included. They take you to Falls at 7am in a Jeep (or a Bus if more people) and cover the back and front of the falls.

Food is buffet- and average quality. This is something they can improve. Also, booking is online, and there is no proper response to emails or phone calls to their centralised reservation.  These are the reasons for one less star.

Amazing place. USP view from your room towards Sharavathi back water. This is one among lesser known JLR properties which is must for your weekend trip. Food is simple but tasty, helpful friendly staff - though you might give a nudge time to time to get things done. Jog falls just 6 km, they will take you there in their vehicle. If you haven’t seen Jog falls in monsoon, you should! All rooms provide view towards the backwater but long climb from reception- so be prepared to stretch your legs. An amazing place to be with your unfinished book. Must visit!
