232 reviewsMy adult daughter and I spent 4 nights at Janak Niwas while we explored Udaipur. We had a very comfortable twin room with attached bathroom, on the 2nd floor and overlooking the quiet lane outside. From the moment we arrived the welcome from Sanju and his brother (? Raju) was very friendly, informative and helpful. The other staff had very limited English (about as limited as my Hindi), but they were always friendly, willing and respectful. The rooftop area is spectacular and nicely decorated with plants etc for a great ambience. The small menu is limited to home-cooking fare, but the breakfast we had up there was delicious. Sanju took us on an interesting guided walk in the city, and was very informative about local sights, transport etc. My daughter enjoyed a painting class during our stay, and our transport from Udaipur to Jaipur was arranged efficiently for us with a great driver. I can happily recommend a stay at Janak Niwas to anyone wanting to stay close by the City Palace and market.
