Amidst of a busy and modern city, a flavour of old shillong exists in this place, maintaining its european style. The wooden floors, the furniture, decor items all bring back nostalgia. The hotel welcomes you in its own style. Staffs are helpful. Food is good. Though plate wise, seems to be expensive, one plate served 2 of us easily. Overall it was a very nice experience.

I was simply made to feel at home from the beginning. The rooms are very clean. The location is very quiet, but not out-of-the-way. The interior decor is attractive. All questions were dealth with quickly and courteously.

Not just everything that looks good on picture are actually glorious... here is something we discovered which is more enjoyable more glorious than it’s visible on pictures ....
Every corner of this property is been given personalised attention to take out best out of every stairs, every corner every stone .
The warmth is heart touching along with yummy home made food .
The choices may not be much for the menu but when it’s cooked with love even the khichadi becomes this finger licking .
This beyond just a place to stay if you go there try and connect with the values more ... 
Very convenient to reach ... car park ... even got a car wash 😊

The Habitat is an excellent Boutique property. Our stay was excellent and they offer it at an extremely reasonable pricing. The property is neatly kept and in word i would say that it’s awesome.
I was traveling with my family and everyone enjoyed every bit of the stay.

- Okay for a night's stay: there is nothing much to do in the area and the bazar is also not very exciting. It would be better to consider a hotel which is more self contained with lawns and gardens and a view as it can get pretty boring spending time in Shillong market area.

I have been to The habitat Inn with my family in May 2019. I stayed there for 3 days and felt that I should have stayed there for longer. The guest house is very tastefully done. The location is a just a lane away from the main road however very peaceful. The interiors are done very tastefully.

Location: its in the heart of the city and few food joints are a walk away. 
Rooms: are very clean and with very good heritage and wel maintained furniture. 
Service and Staff: They are very helpful and supportive. 
Breakfast: Its simple and limited menu. 

Special mention for Shubhonkar and Shabari for their hospitality.

Stayed here for two days with a group of senior citizens.
Following a tip, we specifically asked for accommodation in their new block which had a lift - the original hotel block has no lift and hence problematic for those with bad knees.
In the new block, the rooms are spacious and well appointed.
The buffet breakfast is simple but sufficient to keep you going till lunch.
Nice place - will recommend to those visiting Shillong.

Firstly, the rooms are the same as shown in the pictures. The wooden floorings and lobby decor are lovely. The whole property consists of beautiful decor pieces,(side note- you can have Instagram-worthy pics everywhere on their property). The ambiance is calm and peaceful inside the property. 
The staff is also very lovely and friendly.

But what I didn't like was the food was very expensive, and in the morning buffet there were not that many options which I would have preferred for the price. The services were good but you have to ping them again and again to provide the services. The exact location of this property is not pleasing but the main road and markets are nearby, so that is a good thing. The toiletries were in the bare minimum amount.
 Overall, for me, the experience at the price that you pay is not completely satisfactory.

The wooden stay

Everything was okay about the hotel - the staffs, the food. But rooms were very very small. The breakfast is not for free as it shows in the advertisement. At this price better stay in the mid of the town so that you can at least enjoy walk in the town

Not Worthy for the Price

Most of the rooms in this hotel are too small.I had booked a deluxe room which was very small and not suitable for even 2 kids( aged 9 and 4 ) and 1 adult.note the deluxe room I booked was at the same rate as a double deluxe room available in MMT. Even most of the double deluxe rooms are very small( i had a look of a nearby room).the rooms to me appear are suitable for single person.Only maybe 4 rooms are of good size rest(majority) all are tiny.After paying 4,500 rs seeing such a room I felt cheated. 

There is no generator facility between midnight to 6.30 am. So be ready to struggle in darkness in case of power cut (they provide emergency light only after multiple requests)

Exhaust of Toilet of a neighbouring room opens in your bathroom.Such is poor design and layout of this hotel.

Another problem with hotel is it doesn't offer room service.wonder despite having more than 15 rooms it chooses to call itself guesthouse,is it so that it can avoid some basic services like room service,providing choice of food ?

I was also told that they don't trust guests and will doubt guests  will take away emergency light .
