Rangerwood Machan Jungle Tree House

Stayed with friends in last October. Amazing place to stay with a little adventure and monkeys in your tree house balcony. Good choice of breakfast and very hospitable team members. Spa and massage needs improvement as the standard of spa doesn’t match other facilities in the hotel. Otherwise we had an amazing memorable stay.

Do not miss this unique place even if for only one night. Monkeys, birds and the entire forest are at your door step. Built on top of an old banyan tree, this is an experience you will never forget. Just do not leave any food on the balcony. The monkeys are fast!!!

My husband and I travelled to Thekkady, Kerela in January 2015 for our honeymoon! It was our first time in Kerela and we were beyond glad to be there !! We stayed at the Rangerwood Tree House for a night and had an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and gave us a tour of their property and arranged many excursions for us (Elephant rides, Kathakkali performances, traditional martial arts). The best part was the Tree House it self! It was phenomenal! We had to go through a tunnel to get to the tree house (there was always a security guard there for safety) The tree house is so well made and well equipped overlooking the tiger jungle reserve! We got many monkey visitors in the morning haha !! It was lovely !! :)

Night in a Tree house !!

Unique and charming

The nature you could see and experience was really nice but it is not really a tree house since the "Tree" is actually not a tree. It it kind of made out of plastic and just has the optic of a tree. 
That was kind of disappointing since no one mentioned that before.
And even though the room and view was nice I think it is too expensive.

We stayed here for 1 night on a tour of Kerala. We were excited with the idea of staying in an actual treehouse!  The treehouse is reached by walking up the street from the hotel, then down a passageway at the back of some shops and past some local's homes, I'm not sure how they felt about this, then through a tunnel with a gate at one end.  There wasn't much evidence of a security guard, apart from when he followed us up the passageway with a torch (he'd been in the main hotel and not guarding the passageway) and then stood on the decking until we gave him a tip.  We felt quite isolated at night and I didn't sleep well as a result.  

The treehouse itself was nice inside the bedroom part but could have been cleaner - the window was covered in handprints -, it was full of mosquitoes (thank goodness for my can of bug spray) and the bathroom had a tricky series of plastic curtains to pull across the window, but we could never seem to arrange them so it was private.  They had some dubious stains on them.  The shower water pressure was very low, and wasn't warm, and after getting covered in oil from an Ayurvedic massage, I had to sit on the floor and kind of scub myself under the tap to get even some of it off.  There was no plug in the sink so I couldn't even run a basin of water.  

Understandably, since it was up the street a bit, it was a hassle for the staff if anything needed bringing to the room.  We had to ask repeatedly for 2 mattresses for our children although this had been pre-arranged.  I think they were hoping we'd forget the idea.

 The food in the hotel wasn't great - dinner wasn't too bad as it was cooked to order, but we went for breakfast about 9am and the food was so dried out it can only have been sat there for a couple hours.  Worst part was that after we'd checked out, we went back to the room with the porter to get our bags collected, and a security guard showed up and stood in the doorway until the porter had checked the minibar in front of us, as if somehow disbelieving that we had taken nothing.  We felt as if they thought we were lying.  Would we go back? No.  The experience didn't live up to the expectation.  Would we recommend to other families?  No.

We got swept away with a romantic idea

We booked tree house and a day before they said jungle authority disconnected water and electricity. Hence they cannot give us. Later on I found out they given to some NRI for more money on sane day I supposed to have.
