hotel Jai Palace

We had three nights stay at the Hotel Jai Palace. For the price you pay, we thought this was good value for money. We had a nice spacious room with air-con and a private bathroom. The room itself could have been a little bit cleaner (just the corners of the floor were dirty) and the bathroom was the same - just needed a bit more attention paying to it. However for the price we didn’t expect it to be spotless. This hotel has a couple of bonus points though: it’s close to the station (8 min walk, so don’t let tuctuc drivers fool you that it’s 5km away!) although it isn’t super easy to find and no one seems to have heard of it. For info, it’s opposite the OYO 13643 Hotel Maharaja Palace if you do want to get a lift. The second gem is the restaurant. Located on a rooftop terrace, like everything else in India at this price range, it could do with a bit of a clean, but the food here is excellent. We’ve had the best Indian food here so far in our trip (2 weeks in), especially the Kaju curry (roasted cashew nuts). Reception staff speak pretty good English and the rest of the staff are pleasant even though theirs isn’t great, but we’re well aware we are in their country so any English they know is a bonus!! We’d recommend this place, and will stay here again when we return to Jaipur. Summary: close to station, great food, decent rooms and cheap!
