The Lazy Patio Home Stay

There is a saying don't judge book by it's cover. In the similar lines don't judge this amazing place which is hidden behind the blue entrance door. It's hidden gem in hais khaz village. The host had given proper guidance on how to reach this place. It's located in 4th floor. No elevator to reach the rooftop. Pets are guest friendly.  I was delighted by seeing place with amazing view and soothing vibe. It has kitchen, 3 rooms on the terrace. Glass room is amazing. We had booked two rooms for my friends bachelorette party. We reached the property little late so could not enjoy the stay to the max. Morning we woke to the soothing lake  view. This place is known for the photoshoots. I definitely recommend this place.

I booked this place to stay with my friends, and took a 2 bed room, which had two queen beds, and a ensuite shower. 

The view is just awesome, and it's a great staycation, if only the minor details are taken care of. I wouldn't mind staying there again with my friends, if a few things mentioned below are fixed. If I go there again, just for the view. 

As the car parking is around 100 meters away from the place, initially, the host informed that the caretaker will help with the luggage, and carry it to our rooms on the 4th floor. But upon checkin, the caretaker asked us to bring all our luggage ourselves till the ground floor of the building. Not only that, we had to carry half our bags ourselves and climb up 4 floors with it. After a long travel, this was so painful. The host misguided us to book his place, giving false pretenses. 

After checkin, there are no towels, adequate pillows, bedsheets provided. We had to use our own stuff. Very uncomfortable.

The shower room is just super misled, In the bathroom, there is very very low water pressure, and it just destroys your day when you don't have a good shower in the morning. No buckets provided in bathrooms. 

As for the stay overall:
Pros:
1. Located in Hauz Khauz, which is perfect. 
2. Staff is very well mannered, and guide properly about the address and resources.
3. Breakfast is available on payment basis.
4. The Patio area is just awesome, super clear views and picture perfect.

Cons:
1. Far away from the car parking, almost 100 meters.
2. The place has 4 floors of stairs to climb
3. Disgusting water pressure in room showers.
4. No amenities provided at all, towels, face wash, adequate bedsheets, nothing.

View is perfect, rooms are good. Inconvenient checkin, worst housekeeping, super expensive.

We had booked for four nights using a reputable online booking site and we had been in phone contact with the owners to arrange airport pick up because we were arriving on an international night flight. The first disappoint was there was no one was at the airport to collect us. We then struggled to get anyone one using the contact Accomodations details on the phone to explain to taxi driver how to get to the location. As Hauz Khas is out of the way & you can not drive into House khas New Delhi, all of this information we were not informed of In the prior booking information & communication. The taxi suddenly stopped and we were told to get out & wait a man eventually informed us to follow him. So we dragged our luggage in the dark for 15/20 minutes not knowing where we were going winding along , through narrow laneways .we finally carried our back packs up three flights of steps , to see a great view. However , when we entered a room like a glass house. The young boy indicated to turn on water / to flush toilet or have a shower the / turn hotter water tank on a circuit switch needs to be turned on near the main entrance to the property. Our king room , was very basic , there was a heater. However to heat the room we had to plug it into the one power point next to bed on top of the bedside table. So if we. had kept it on we would have been burn. The bedding was old & faded and very minimal furniture was the quality of a student share house, rough.We have both lived & stayed in local accomodation across South East Asia and this is the first time we have ever wanted to turn around and leave. However we could not do this, As we discovered when we went to turn on the twitch to have a shower and flush the toilet. The balcony door had been lock and we were locked out of the main building for the rest of the night. Not been able to access running water. In the morning we had to wait for staff to arrive to unlock the door. We paid for one night and left. I have stayed in very clean refreshing , local B&Bs that are 18 dollars per night and have air conditioning tv, fan, clean simple bathroom, and a view. I know it’s New Delhi, however we were so disappointed, and cold .Interestingly, we should have sensed something was up, when the owner texted letting us To inform us they were having a personal party on the deck/ landing outside the glass room we were staying in, whilst we would be staying there. Great view, great location, do stay in Hauz Khas , just not at this property!

Loved Hauz Khas, loved the view, accomodation very disappointing!

I wanted to give a 5 star review but I just can't. 
The positive: (1) The rooftop views are amazing & there is a cozy area to sit out there & enjoy it. (2) The location is great. 
My family stayed 3 evenings in the family room with 2 beds separated by a flimsy wall. The room has a thatched roof and we could hear everything around us which made it difficult to sleep without earplugs. Additionally, it was cold when we were there in January & the roof didn't help! The shower had a switch to turn on the water heater. Once heated, it came out hot ... but for about 3 minutes.
The stay is 4+ flights up with large steps. No elevator which is okay if you are in good shape. We were met by a nice man who spoke no English & carried up one of our 5 suitcases. (at all our other stays in India, our luggage was brought up by staff). This man brought us to our room & tried to communicate how to turn on the shower water heater, lock the door, etc. He delivered refillable water bottles but didn't indicate whether the water was purified or not (no English spoken) so we didn't risk drinking it and bought our own. We did eventually speak to another nice guy who worked there & spoke English. He helped clear up some questions we had but we didn't see much of anyone after we paid for our stay upon our arrival. 
During our entire stay, we never received any maid service, no fresh towels or toilet paper. We had to ask the final evening for new towels to shower and toilet paper. Very disappointing. 


Beautiful Rooftop Views but Average Accommodations

When choosing accommodation, I have found that by far the most important aspect is the location. This was certainly the case with our choice to stay at the Lazy Patio in New Delhi. Visiting in June we had five days with temperatures over 40C every day and being so close to the gardens, and the lake and good restaurants certainly helped us cope with the heat.  Having two AC units in the family room also helped a lot and we were able to escape the heat in our room.  This was most welcome!

It was also surprisingly quiet here despite the noise and activity in the Village.  You feel nice and secluded on the patio overlooking the lake.

There are some really great restaurants around - take the advice from the info sheet in the room!

The room itself was ok but not quite to the standard I would have liked. The beds were quite hard, and there's just the basic facilities - I guess what you would expect from a basic home-stay. There is certainly room for improvement, but it was ok.  However the outlook from the terrace is wonderful!

We also had a few logistical issues;- we arrived on a Saturday night when the village was super-busy, dropped on the street with our bags and trying to contact the owners for directions, then when we found the entrance we had to wait over 20 minutes for the housekeeper to arrive to let us in. He was friendly enough but does not have good english so communication was difficult.  We also found ourselves locked out a few days later and had to wait a while to be let in - someone inside had bolted the door.

Once the owners returned things were a bit better - they are very friendly and no problems at all with communication.  

Other issues;-
- The wifi was intermittent. Mostly ok, but not always available.
- Bathroom was adequate, but water pressure was poor even after turning on the pump at the switchboard.
- 4 stories of stairs were not welcome in the heat. No problem if you're fit.

So despite a few negatives, we enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Patio and I'd recommend it if you are happy to forgo luxury for a great location.  It's a bit expensive for the level of comfort you get and I'd like to think value for money can be improved (either the price or the comfort-level).

Good location, but a little expensive for home-stay accommodation

For our first day in India, our stay proved to be excellent value for money. The staff were so helpful in suggesting tourist ideas, giving us a better perspective on fair pricing (such as taxi fairs) and discussing India culture. We had a few fury friends such as a monkey (not in our room) which they actively put deterrents in place to reduce the theft rates of stolen bananas. The room was clean and had hot water. Overall pleasant stay! Thank you 

Helpful and Pleasant 

So as I write this review I am lying in bed on our last day at the lazy patio due to check out in a few hours.

Ok so when we arrived our taxi driver couldn't find Haus Khaz village which was a bit of an issue but we phone the owner and they sent the housekeeper down to find us which was very nice.

The lazy patio itself is located down a lovely tight alley way with lots of little shops. You do have to climb a number of steps to get to the rooms but when you see the view it was  well worth it. 

As I'm sure you have seen in the pictures the patio over looks a lake and with a nice sunset is breath taking.

The rooms are nice they have air con and good shower facilities but be wary of the floors in the showers as they can get slippery. On our first night one of the owners came and introduced herself to us and was really nice and helpful with places to eat and drink. 

So we ate at "Coast" which is about 30 seconds walk from where you leave the building and the food was great and reasonably priced. We drank at a few places but the place that stood out for us was "the Social" it has a cool industrial vibe to it and. Great roof terrace with beds used as chairs at the tables and once again has amazing views, it was well priced beers start at about 150rp a bottle and food was also well priced, I had a biriyani burrito for about 210rp.

overall the lazy patio is situated in what I would say is the best part of Delhi I have visited and must have amongst the top views in the town. Facilities are good,rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and showers hot. What more can you ask for? 5 stars from me. If I ever return to Delhi this is where I will be stopping.

Perfect views and a great price

I frequent Delhi for business trips, and this is absolutely my favorite place to stay. Some times my colleagues and I will all stay there, which is nice because of the patio space that connects all the rooms. The Lazy Patio has a zen-ful view on the 4th floor overlooking the water tank, and the location is fantastic if you like an environment that is buzzing, artistic, and has historic monuments and restaurants nearby, but need quiet for sleep (the space is tucked away from the bustle). It is hard to find in the middle of the night though if you are not familiar with the area! However, the owner is very helpful and accommodating.

Zen in Hauz Khas!

The Lazy Patio is my favourite place to stay in Delhi. It's conveniently located in Hauz Khas, far away from the noisy traffic. Plenty of lovely bars are in walking distance and the private roof terrace offers an amazing view on the lake. There really is no better way of waking up in Delhi in the morning, stepping out on the terrace and enjoying the view. Just avoid taking heavy suitcases as the apartment is on top floor of the house. I will be back soon!
