OYO 7288 Traveller Guest House

After an exhaustive internet search to find a nice,reasonably priced hotel in Goa,I came upon The Mayflower. What attracted me was the proximity to the beach (a 5 minute walk via Tito's Lane) and also the closeness to all the activity of Tito's Lane (a 2 minute walk) but without the noise. I was also most amused by the owner Kevin's replies to any negative comments about the hotel,which are hilarious,please check them out! The hotel itself is down a laneway and doesn't look much from the reception area (they are currently building a new one) but once you check in it is a different matter. The reception staff are excellent,super efficient,polite and friendly - I cannot praise them enough. The gardens,where the swimming pool and outdoor restaurant are, leading up to the main building which houses the rooms,are really lovely and tranquil. The room itself was spacious,with beautiful polished wood furniture,an extra large bed with crisp white bed linen,a good sized balcony and a large bathroom with walk in power shower. I was most pleasantly surprised,as this hotel is only listed as 3 star but really should be 4 star plus. I paid Euro 53 a night for a single occupancy room,which is excellent value for this area. I ate at Capetown Café most mornings for brunch and can recommend it (it's just opposite you as you come out of the hotel laneway onto Tito's Lane) and Nisha's restaurant (a few premises down to your right,as you come out of the hotel laneway and onto Tito's Lane) doesn't look much décorwise but is excellent.
