Hill Valley Resort

The Anamada Estate in which the Resort is situated, is an authentic one. Many of the properties from the colonial era and therefore a little short of amenities and wanting a bit of maintenance. But if comfort is all that you are looking for then this is not the place to spend your holidays. Fully expecting some rough roads when we were told that the way to the resort from Nelliampathy town is by off road vehicle, we were least expecting an hour and half of tumbling in a jeep over the 12 km of boulders and bottomless pits. Watch you head and hold on with both arms, but otherwise the trick is not to resist the jostling. It is certainly not for the elderly and those with any spinal problems. But if you see it as adventure and fun, ask them to stop a few times to enjoy the scenery of which there is abundance. The stay itself is made richer by the spectacular views, the walk in the plantations and the night safari for watching wild bison, sambar deer and miscellaneous wild life. The food is simple and good even if lacking in variety and the staff are courteous and helpful. If you still have the time and need to be in touch with the outer world they have WiFi up there. A 1-3 day stay with your family and friends would be ideal. They have accomodation for larger groups as well.
