Our 21 day stay and Ayurvedic treatment was a great experience. And a yoga class. This is a small homestay with only 03 rooms but it is a quiet place. Ayurvedic treatment was very effective. Homely Food was good and tasty. We recommend this to anyone with any health problems

Lovely beach resort full of character. We are really liked the place. We had basic room but it was spacious room and neat own.staff behavior is very humble and sincerely. Food was so delicious and tasty. We will come back.

Buetiful stay with good ambiance. We had stayed for 4 nights.I was impressed with the hospitality.very good view from the resort. Ayurveda treatment was excellent. Food was very tasty and so delicious. And also Dr. Showy is nice person

I am dividing this review into three parts because some of our experiences were good, others not so much.
The Marari Arabian Sea View Homestay 
This is where we stayed during our 14 day “rejuvenation” Ayurveda experience. When we first arrived we noticed that the bedroom/bathroom had an unpleasant musty odour. We were able to reduce this by opening windows and turning on fans. Otherwise, the room was comfortable, clean and the bathroom functional. We chose a non A/C room but the overhead fan was enough to make sleeping possible. The Homestay location is really good, about 50 metres from the beach on the Arabian Sea with fishing boats and swimming spots close by. The best part of our stay was the service provided Jose who brought us our diet prescribed meals and took care of other business for us. He was exceptional. The other family/staff members were also friendly and helpful, providing us with laundry service a couple of times. Overall a good choice for budget accommodation by the beach.
The Marari Ayurveda Clinic 
Our treatments were provided at this clinic, supervised by Dr. Shobi. It is about a kilometre from our accommodation but he provided us with a motor scooter so that we could travel back and forth with ease. The building itself is unimpressive - the top floor of a concrete structure under renovation on the first level amidst a yard filled with construction materials. However, inside everything is well organized, clean and functional. Dr. Shobi gave us an initial interview and drew up a program for us. He also provided medicines to address some of our health issues. Both of us were happy with our therapists. We ended up having two massages per day for 14 days along with other treatments. My therapist Sanish was professional and competent. Dr. Shobi met with us most days and took our blood pressure as well as checking on our treatments. He also went out of his way to help us with our trip planning, including arranging for a day touring the Alleppey backwaters and booking train tickets for us. We have no trouble recommending the clinic for short or longer term Ayurveda programs.

This is where we had some concerns. As far as we can determine there is no “resort”. The pictures on the Web site when we first consulted it were old and many showed buildings and grounds that are no longer available. We were told that the lease on the former property had run out some time ago and had not been renewed. The site may have been updated since then and if not it certainly should be. Other sites like Agoda are still showing pictures that are not accurate. The first indication that all was not as expected came when we arrived by taxi at the spot where Google Maps said the “resort” was and there was nothing there. Our driver eventually got in touch with Dr. Shobi and he came by a few minutes later to lead us to the Homestay. A further issue is that we discovered later that booking through the resort Web site contact info meant we paid a higher fee. If we had booked directly with Dr. Shobi apparently it would have been 800 Euros cheaper for the two weeks! So the message to readers is definitely “buyer beware” with regard to the “resort” Web site.

The Ayurveda Experience - A Three Part Review

The website gives the impression of a resort experience, as do the various booking sites. The reality is that you stay in a 3 room home stay that is across the road from the beach where the local fishermen keep their boats. If you book directly through the mariara aruveyda center you will save $800 euros on a 14 day package and get the same experience. The treatment was excellent. The home stay staff were good.
