Kumarakom Heritage - Kumarakom

We were reccommended to John & Jinto's Heritage Home by friends who have been going to Kerala for years. We wanted something different away from Kovalam Beach, had already done the Rice Barge tour previously. The House Puthooram is an old wooden construction of an old Keralan House built in the traditional old style. We had two rooms. The room on the front has a large wooden Balcony over the backwater. Our friends sat with us here each evening for Gin and Tonic. John will cook for you mainly local dishes, but will do a European breakfast. The house is a good base to explore from. Kumarakum is a very interesting place. We ook a lazy slow canoe punted by a lovely local man who spotted all sorts of Birds for us that we would have missed. The hosts are excelent nothing was too much trouble. We had phone numbers to call if we got lost, or missed the ferry etc. Small relaxing and great value for money.
