Banyan Tree Resort

Can’t fault the beauty of this resort which hugs a bushy hillside on Bintan. Perfect spot after a long winter tour around Europe. Lovely Indonesian styled bungalows nestled in the rainforest that blankets the hillside. Jaw dropping views of the Singapore Straits which glitters at night from passing boats and distant villages. Super friendly staff and a choice of two pools, one near the sweeping beach shared with sister property Angsana. But it all comes with a hefty price. Luckily our deal included the luxury breakfast. Eat well as other meals are pricey. Mains upwards of US$20. Bring booze and snacks. We dined twice at Angsana which is slightly cheaper. So great resort if your pockets are deep but otherwise prepare to wince. US$15 for a glass of wine. Really? We drank for way less in Paris, London even Helsinki.
