The Zuri White Sands, Goa Resort & Casino

A lot of negative reviews on the state of the furniture etc, yes it's a little run down but I didn't travel to Goa to look at the wardrobe. The rooms are cleaned daily, the showers are hot and the bed is comfortable, a special mention to our cleaner Mahesh, he did a great job. Safes are provided, AC worked well We stayed on a B&B package which was perfect, the breakfast was more than enough to fill the belly for the rest of the day and the staff were more than helpful. It's a little busy when the weddings are on but if you wander in earlier enough it's fine. Poolside is fine, more than enough loungers for everyone although the resort was a little quiet when we were there, or you could wander down to the beach if you wanted. The Pool and the grounds are immaculate. A special mention to Prakash who was very helpful as was everyone else. Location of the resort is Varca which is bang in-between Benaulim and Cavelossim. It takes about an hour to walk to Benaulim along the beach and about an hour and a half to Cavelossim. Lovely beaches and plenty of shacks to stop at to have a cold one or a dip into the sea which is like bath water.Food in the shacks is of a decent standard and in some exceptional, well worth a visit. If you don't fancy walking then just jump in a taxi, bit of a con but it's approx 1200 rupees there and back and they'll wait 1 hour for you, if you want to stay longer, each subsequent hour is 200 rupees. There are some good restaurants outside the front of the resort, Leos Roar is worth mentioning, the food in there was vey nice. Plenty of restaurants in Cavelossim to visit, all good. If you intend on hiring a car, make sure you pick up an International licence from the Post Office, you'll need one although they will hire you one without one but the police will certainly ask for it and demand some money. Transfer to the resort from the new airport (GOX) takes about 1hr 45mins but it is a good introduction to driving in India!! Cold beer 100 rupees, meal out for 2 including a few wets, no more than 2000 rupees. Wall to wall sunshine, didn't see a cloud the whole 2 weeks we were there. Around 30C and a gentle breeze, perfect weather and a perfect holiday. Looking forward to next year.
