The location of the apartment was FABULOUS! (a little noisy on New Years Eve)(beautiful fireworks though). Centrally located, easy access to restaurants, cafes and shops. The hotel is directly across the street if you need help (we didn't realize that until the last day, as we were leaving...the gentlemen at the front desk were friendly and helpful storing our luggage for a couple of hours and arranging for a large taxi to get us to the airport. Wish we had realized they were there earlier in our trip!The room itself was amazing! The size, the cleanliness. The bathroom had black stones everywhere (floor and walls), was unique and really nice. The only problem we had was in the bathroom. First, there was a shower curtain rod, but no curtain (so water went all over). Second, the sink was TINY!!! (while washing up and brushing teeth, half of the water used was ending up on the floor). Third, the bathroom door was really difficult to open and close, especially when you were in the bathroom (we figured out we had to slide it open from the very far side when outside. Never found an easier way to open it while inside). And lastly, and the most significant and important...was the smell of sulfur...which spread into the room itself...The first night was the worst until we finally realized where it was coming from. We placed a towel over the drain in the shower and kept the door closed, at all times. I would definitely stay here again - just speak to someone about that smell !!!

So I stayed at this apartment for a full week in December. I ended up booking two rooms because it ended up being cheaper to book two separate rooms than it would have been to simply have the hotel/apartments "upgrade" my room which I found ridiculous, but ok (initially I was taking a solo trip so booked a studio, then my husband decided to join so i needed a bigger space) I had a studio on the 4th floor which was nice as well as a "home" on the third floor. The biggest issue and inconvenience about these apartments is that they list it as having "parking" which is important because aside form the location it was one of the sole reasons I picked this stay. *Please note there are only 4 designated parking spots for the entire Apartment complex.* This needs to be highlighted and they need to be transparent about the parking situation. The other thing is, I understand that Iceland is geothermally heated and the smell of sulfur is to be expected, but the *smell was SO BAD* each and everyday after showering I felt dirtier than when I went it. Just terrible. Also bathrooms are TINY, shower didn't drain. Simply put, I would not recommend.

Great comfortable rooms just off the main High St with all major town attractions in easy walking distance.

Excellent apartment/hotel in Reykjavik. Great location downtown, close to all the shopping and bus stops 3 and 6 for bus tours. The kitchen has everything you need to make your own meals. The only thing is that it’s a bit loud at night due to nearby bars and restaurants. But the hotel provides earplugs. Comfortable rooms and bed which made our trip even more enjoyable. Will stay here again.

We arrived at the hotel office across the street from the Thinghold Apartments to check in. I parked on the street directly in front of the office. During check-in, the agent told us that the Thingholt Apartments only has 4 parking spots, and they were all full. I asked if it was then OK for me to leave our car parked on the street instead. She said that a referendum by the city council had just taken effect 4 days prior, making all parking paid. I asked how I could pay through our departure time in the morning, and she told me that there was no way to prepay for the next day, so someone would have to come out and feed the meter by 9:00am. Talk about an inconvenience! The listing for these apartments should now say, "Almost zero parking." I gripe, but we got extremely lucky. As I was hauling our luggage into the unit from the back alley, one of the four cars left... so I took his spot.

Fantastic option in downtown Reykjavik.  Centrally located.  Very clean apartment.  Near main street with restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores -- but far enough away that it was quiet.  Highly recommend!

The property and location was great. My issue was the bed. My bed was a mattress on the ground. There was also a bed of hard pebbles to get on to that mattress which made it even more uncomfortable to get on and off the mattress. The property needs to update their images and describe their accommodations more accurately. If I was not physically able to get on and off the floor as easily I am not sure what I would have done as the communication through orbitz to the hotel was never returned.

Perfect location near shops, bus stop and restaurants. Apartment has dimmer switch but remains poorly lit on inside. Heated towell rack in bathroom did not work. Otherwise, nicely decorated and clean. Major complaint is that Expedia changed the dates of my stay by one day which i didn't notice until after payment.  Immediately contacted Expedia and hotel but they didn't care. Contacted several times with no resolution so i ended up paying for a night that I didn't use. This seems so wrong on many levels. Why couldn't the Apartment be flexible within 5 minutes of a computer glitch? This totally dampered my experience and I question whether it was greed on their part or a desire to punish tourists.
