Me and my husband staid there for 2 nights. Good location. Nice rooms. The brekfast is excellent. There were served home made bread and home made jelly among other home made stuff. Very good herbal tea, made from leaves in the garden. The hospitality was great also

Excellent stay

A refurbished sheep barn turned into a guesthouse.  A lovely experience in this stylish place. Little art works, mostly collected from the beautiful surroundings, can be found in unexpected nook and crannies. 
Attention to detail, respect for recycling and upcycling and comfort come together to make this an incredible stay.

Landscape, are and architecture come together.

Travelling through the West Fyord of Iceland we stopped here for one night because a hotel nearby let us down on a short notice.  A strike of luck actually!! This is the best accomodation we had during our stay in Iceland. It is a house recently refurbished by a group of architects and I can tell it looks more like an art gallery than a B&b. The hosts, Mrs Thora and her husband, were a very kind  couple of teachers who decided to turn what once was a sheep barn in a beautiful place to accomodate tourists.  A way to meet people too, considering that the house is in a very remote area. It lies near the sea where we took a walk to admire one of the most breathtaking sunsets  ever. 
In the morning we had a delicious breakfast on a landing above the study : cereals, homemade jams, ham and cheese...everything we could ask for. 
Highly recommended.

A lucky strike

Behind the unassuming metal door at Guesthouse Nyp is a complete surprise, a long airy passageway with three light-filled spacious guest rooms leading off it. The light comes from the picture windows with stunning views across the bay: a view which changes and shifts with the light soft shadows in the evening sun, a pen and ink drawing in the 3.00am dusk of midsummer.
Upstairs is a mezzanine-style dining room, where breakfast and dinner is served on request. Thora, the owner, grows many of the leaves and herbs used in the salads in the sunken beds in the garden and in the polytunnel which fast-tracks squash and tomatoes in the short summer season. Other food is local: smoked herrings, home-baked bread, bilberry jam.
Imaginatively renovated from a traditional Icelandic farmhouse and barn, Guesthouse Nyp fuses its very modern interiors with warm hospitality and a timeless sense of peace and tranquility In this idyllic rural spot. Thora is a lovely host: multilingual, friendly and knowledgeable.

Contemporary living in a remote spot

We stayed here for 3 night in the end of may. It was an barn in an abandoned farm, which has been renovated and converted into a guesthouse. The owners are very polite and nice people who are very willing help. 
There are a certain things you must know before booking this place. 
It is located at a pretty desolated place (most nice places in Iceland are) and not much in terms of town or shops within 30 km. The road leading to the guest house is about 15 km gravel road. Now the guesthouse has 5 rooms ( 3 with ensuite bathrooms on the ground floor and 2 with shared bathrooms on the first floor). The rooms on the first floor are small with a small attached study room. The bathroom for these two rooms is on the ground floor. There is smallish common kitchen and large common dinning area on the first floor. We were a large group and hence we had the whole place to our selves and did not have any problem. But if individual families are there then i feel using the common kitchen and dinning room could be a bit cumbersome or odd....not sure, but then that way people would get to know each other. 
The wifi wasn't too great but was ok.
The surrounding area has  a small hill, waterfall and a stream and looks on to the bay.
Overall its a very cosy place.

Very cosy place

Converted farmhouse off the beaten track.  The rooms were comfy, the place well-designed, and the food that Thora prepared was awesome - locally grown fresh food.  The farm is wonderfully situated at the base of a mountain right by the water.  So beautiful and peaceful.  Well worth a drive around the peninsula which, for some reason , gets few tourists.  Stay here and enjoy (and don't worry about the gravel road, it's absolutely fine for any car.

My favorite place in Iceland

This beautiful place is a bit off the "beaten" tourist track and quite isolated – a worthwhile detour from the main road. The old farm house has been lovingly renovated by hospitable hosts Torá & Summi, an artist and an historian respectively. You want to know anything about Iceland in old times or about today? They are the right ones to ask and discuss matters.

The rooms are tastfully decorated, the products from the garden and the green house are delicious. Tasty and healthy breakfast and if you let Thorá know in advance, she will probably glad to prepare a lunch and dinner for you.

If you are looking for something typical Islandic this is the place to go!


A lovely place with great hosts

Very sweet little guesthouse. Awesome staff which was very helpful! Nice little rooms with views of a very nice scenery. We were allowed to walk & hike everywhere around their property which was great. Also got some very good tips for our next stop!
The only negative thing may be some of the stairs are really steep which may be an issue for people that are handicapped.
Otherwise this place is grant! 

Nyp is definately worth a visit!

One of our most interesting and favorite accommodations ever.  We spent 2 nights, and Thóra prepared excellent dinners both nights.  The place is extremely clean, and the furnishings are interesting, artistic, and appealing.

At Thóra's suggestion, we drove out into the Westfjords a bit, exploring some gravel roads and lightly populated and incredibly beautiful areas.  Don't be put off by the gravel roads in Iceland - they are everywhere, and as long as you keep to the posted speed, and watch for potholes, they aren't difficult.  If you stay only on the asphalt, you will miss lots of interesting things :)
