This guesthouse is located in the middle of a farm so it’s quite smelly but very quiet. The breakfast was adequate and the accommodations were bare but worked for a quick nights sleep. Probably time for an update but we would start again if passing through.

The guesthouse was very modern and new, although it lacked a couple of necessities like: water boiler and a bigger bin for the garbage. The breakfast was very delicious and plentiful. The dinner time was not clear for us, so we missed the dinner.

The location is spectacular, off the main road with views of the mountains. Evening meal was ok, breakfast was acceptable. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. 

The highlight was seeing the aurora, its remote positioning meant that we had perfect views of the phenomena.

This property was a beautiful way to see iceland. Its on a sheep farm by the coast. It was super comfortable and had all the basics.Dinner and breakfast were both delicious.

Guesthouse Nýpugarðar is on a local farm.   It is very quaint and friendly.  Breakfast is included which was nice.   There is a dinner as well, which is an extra cost, but is sourced locally.  This hotel will give you a taste of farm life with some modernization.  We were there when it was quite warm in southern Iceland, so our room was a bit hot.  We should have used the fans they provided, so it was probably our fault.   Very nice stay overall.

We dont know at this point whose fault it is. Our travel agency booked the room. The room is very small and has an old chair, a tiny night desk, and two hooks on the wall. We had to spend 2 nights in this room. 

Since our trip is not a budget trip and the other rooms we have had were much nicer, we were really shocked to see this room. The woman at the reception was friendly enough but not helpful at all.

All the great reviews are about the cottages or the bigger rooms we did not get. 

So make sure you do not book this tiny room which is a bit like a prison cell. 

Really sad

Located in a very remote area alone.  Nearest town of Hofn is 30 minute driving distance.  The staff was very kind.

Nypugardar is located in a beautiful setting overlooking two glaciers and we loved having that view from the property. Our room was located in the main building and had its own private bathroom. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and unlike many in Iceland the temperature of the room was perfect! We had the best night's sleep of our whole trip here! 

We ate our evening meal in the restaurant which is renowned for its lamb dishes and both of us were wowed by the quality and taste of the meals. It was the best dinner of our entire trip too! In the morning our breakfast was again amazing. The bread was warm and tasted so good, and I don't know what they added to the Skyr yoghurt but it was again the best we had in the country.

We wouldn't hesitate to return and would give Nypugardar a score of more than 10 if possible.



Food and room quality was first class.

We loved our cottage.   Comfortable, Clean and woke to sheet in front of our porch....adorable!
