We got to the location but could not locate the cottage. Should have a signboard pointing to them as if you go past the graveyard it's a large hostel like building. We called for instructions and the owner drove up and led us to the accommodation, yellow cottage. It was a big place on the hill. 2 separate bedrooms with an attached bath and a lovely kitchen. Comfortable beds and heating was good through the house. Everything worked till the morning when I  had to reset the modem/router to get re-connected to the WiFi and TV. Quiet place, warm and cozy. In the morning open the door to sheep grazing in the driveway and a great way to start the day with breakfast by the porch.

Cozy cottage with all the comfort of home

Great location for hikers going to Lónsöræfi. Accommodation is excellent for groups up to 20 people, with shared kitchen and bathrooms. Hosts are friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful historical church in the area that should not be missed. Good value for money!

Good value for money!

We had a little trouble telling the difference between the road for the cottages and the camp ground.  But once we located the cottage road and got the courage to knock on the house door, everything went smoothly after that.  It's a definitely rustic but we were able to get a great view of the northern lights the night we stayed and it had great wifi.  We were happy to be in out of the cold!

Tucked away cottage

Its very nice place to stay for a night! Everything is working nicely. Didnt have any problems with TV or Wifi. Kitchen was well equipped, rooms clean. Bathroom was nice and clean, got towels for everyone. Owner was very friendly!
Its all good!!!

Stafafell cottage

I made the mistake of booking (via Booking.com) a one night stay at Stafafell Cottages about 30 minutes drive from Hofn to Stokksness on Road 1 last week.  Fortunately, I arrived mid afternoon to check it out before darkness set in.  It was well sign posted on the road.  The track leading to the farm and bungalow adjacent to the two cottages was full of the expected potholes but OK.  However, the farm was run down, the bungalow was run down and the car the pulled up with the owner in it to greet me was also run down.  He offered me the key but I asked to see the property first of course.  We then made our way along a track with major potholes in it to two cottages in the field.  From the outside and at a distance they looked the same as they did in the photos on the Booking.com website.  However as we approached the front door they were true hill billy cottages, old and decrepit, 20 years old according to the owner, and ready for demolition rather than occupation!  The owner opened to front door to reveal a small bedroom where the sheets looked as though they hadn't been washed for weeks, there was a dreadful smell coming from the property, the small bathroom was being used as a storage room and the so called living room was not fit for living in.  I respectfully declined the opportunity of staying here, which seemed to come as no surprise to the owner.

My best advice is give this property a miss ... IT IS DREADFUL!

DREADFUL - DON'T STAY HERE!

At arrival we couldn't find the owner house, finally after calling him by mobile we experienced to stay right before his front door! The owner is sheep farmer too. We paid in advance and we received a discount for staying more than 1 day. 5/5 The house is big enough for 4 persons, 2 in a double bed and 2 in a bunk bed. The beds are good 4/5. The house is clean 5/5. The bathroom is clean but has a small shower and sink, the heater has a heating coil exceeding the heater housing, still a big blister now. 3/5. The wifi is free and fast and stable enough 4/5. The kitchen is clean but the furniture is old and the joint between working blade and wall is moldy. The equipment worked well, refrigerator and cooking stove. 4/5. The location is perfect for bird watching, ocean side and mountain side as well as nearby beautiful canyon. 5/5

Somehow aged and outdated but clean and well located little house

Spent a night here after driving down from Holt. Arrived late night but lady owner was friendly to bring us to the cottage which was away from the farm. The cottage is well equipped with TV, fridge, wifi, huge sofa. Toilet is very basic and kitchen could be more clean.
