Aurora Igloo

We spent one night here as a fun novelty. Unfortunately it was cloudy, so we didn't see the northern lights or stars but that's ok! It was still a really fun quirky place to stay that was extremely comfortable and cute. Be aware: you can book an ingloo WITH or WITHOUT a bathroom. We booked one without a private bathroom so you have to walk a minute to the common building by the parking lot, it has multiple bathrooms and showers and a little kitchenette with a sink and espresso machine for use. It was like fancy camping. They had fresh towels, shampoo, etc. But we were surprised b/c we didn't read the fine print. Expensive but worth it for us for one night.

We had the most magical stay at the aurora igloo. If you are thinking of spending a night here, I would definitely recommend. This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Iceland. It felt amazing to sleep

The Igloo was amazing. Eventhough, in the night it got a little colder it was the highlight of our Iceland Trip. We would love to come back!!!

An amazing experience - a must stay for one night

It was a beautiful once in a lifetime experience. We had a wonderful evening star gazing!

A great experience sleeping under the stars and watching 4hours of the Aurora. Stayed warm with the heaters and enjoyed a lovely sunrise.  So glad we chose a unit with attached bathroom!  Only issue was unlocking the door. Took several tries but finally unlocked even following the lifting up the handle instructions

After an initial issue of getting into igloo( key was not working and had to be worked on back and forth for 30 minutes) and not being able to get a hold of anyone after initial call, we got in and wow view and the auroras showed up and the view of the auroras and sky was beyond the purview of my vocabulary. Overall magnificent.

I liked the serene and unique environment of the igloo. The beds were quite comfy. The accommodations were very pleasant. However, one thing was that it was fairly cold and very windy during my stay. That only made going to the bathroom a little unpleasant, but besides that everything else was great.

We saw Northern Lights and could see the eruption of the volcano at Grindavik from our igloo. It was warm and cozy even at the end of November. The bottle of wine was a lovely touch also. We loved it!

Gorgeous stay in the dome!

Such a lovely, unique experience staying in a private ‘igloo’. Everything about the igloo has been well thought through. There are 3 heaters and electric mattress warmers to ensure warmth in the cold months. They were very effective. If the Northern Lights had been visible during our stay, we would have had the perfect view. Unfortunately, it was raining and very windy but I can now guarantee that the igloos are completely wind and rain proof!! There is more room inside the igloo than I’d anticipated, there was even a small table and chairs as well as a coat stand which was great for hanging a few things up. I had originally booked an igloo with a private bathroom but I was later given the option to either cancel my booking or change it to an igloo with shared bathroom due to problems with heating the bathrooms at the time. The shared bathrooms/service room was a portakabin with 3 bathrooms which had shower, sink and toilet and 2 separate toilets with sinks. There was also a small kitchenette area with a tea/coffee/hot chocolate station and an under counter fridge. Towels were provided. Everything was very clean and we never had to wait to use any of the facilities. In fact, we didn’t see another customer the whole time we were there. (Despite seeing other cars in the car park). Parking was easy, free and only a short walk from the igloos. We would definitely have preferred a private bathroom for our stay but still enjoyed the experience we had and would definitely recommend.

Beautiful glass globes with wonderful views. We were lucky to see Nothern lights laying on our bed all night. What a show. The morning was glorious as well, with some handsome Icelandic ponies grazing in the idyllic fields.The igloo was warm with heated floors, and the attached bath unit was immaculate and ergonomically contructed, with coffe/tea, and a lovely standin shower. Highly recoemmended.

Overall great stay. Lucky enough to see the northern lights. Only downfall was the curtains need to be a little bigger. By the time it goes around the bed and the door it leaves an opening about a foot wide. Also would be great if when prepping the room they left atleast 1 heater on. We got there and our igloo was freezing. Took about 20 minutes to finally start to warm up. The shared bathrooms were maybe a 45 second walk. Not far at all. Overall enjoyed it. Made for a great finish to our anniversary.

Lovely way to enter the space by picking up a key and having a small fridge and glassware and clean amenities waiting. The horses and birdlife were really a wonderful addition to the midnight sun and the comfortable bedding and space was perfect!A couple additions would make this space even that much easier: some composts or plates would have been great and maybe a wagon at the parking lot to bring things to the igloo would make for less hauling trips ! Finally the bathrooms were great; there just were not enough of them as there was often a queue for toilet or shower. Recommend adding a separate toilet only area!Would love to come again during the winter!

Wildlife/ beauty even in the windy rainy weather

I recently had the most enchanting experience at the "Aurora Igloo" near Hella, Iceland. This accommodation is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of comfort, warmth, and breathtaking views.First and foremost, the bed was a dream! The cozy atmosphere of the glass igloo, coupled with the softness of the bed, made for an incredibly relaxing stay.What truly sets Aurora Igloo apart is its ingenious heating system. The radiators in the igloo worked wonders, keeping the space warm and snug throughout the day and night. I was pleasantly surprised at how well-insulated and comfortable the igloo remained, even in the chilly Icelandic weather.The highlight of my stay was, without a doubt, the spectacular view of the northern lights. It was a surreal experience, and I felt like I was in my own private winter wonderland.Privacy is always a concern, especially in accommodations with glass walls, but Aurora Igloo has it covered. The circle curtains provided complete privacy without compromising the view.Whether you're traveling solo or with a special someone, Aurora Igloo is the perfect retreat. The combination of comfort, warmth, privacy, and the mesmerizing northern lights makes it an unforgettable destination. Staying at this property was fun- you can see the starts on a clear night. Picking up the keys was easy and straight forward. You may want to check-in early and shower otherwise you may have no hot water. Also, if you need to pee in the middle of the night - you’ll need to walk to the bathrooms which is not far from the igloos but on a very cold night you’ll need get dressed again (jacket, hat, gloves) to get there. Unless you are a polar bear with no need for warm clothing.
