The room we had was modern,comfortable,with a nice terrace,had everything one would need in the kitchen and bathroom.You could even borrow from the hallway some chargers for different countries outlets,which is nice.We had great communication,there is a coffee shop for breakfast and gas station to get one going across the road.All together a positive experience.

High Standards

The room was  very nice.  The area is also nice and has many lovely local sights.   Unless you know your schedule exactly this place will be a problem.  It was our second day in Iceland and we had stopped to look at many beautiful sights.  There was not a local phone number or email for this apartment.   We unfortunately arrived much later than we anticipated at ten pm.   There was a sticky note in the hallway with a phone number for the ON SITE  manager or owner. She was awake, obviously eating dinner and not asleep.   She proceeded to berate us for a very long time telling us how angry she was that we were so late and that our credit card hadn't worked
  We could not even tell her that we had tried to find contact information to let them know we were delayed 
 without success.   She also criticized the booking engine we used which was actually the only way to book her place through the US. Despite giving her a different card and apologizing profusely she would not let it go.  What made me unhappy was that she was not even willing to listen to our explanation and feedback that having the check in END times and contact information listed would be a great help.  I felt humiliated and my husband was really upset.  Tough second day.  Worst part is I'm a doctor and my husband is an airline pilot.  We travel a LOT  and recommend places to our travel buddies all the time. Truly a missed opportunity for this place.

Please don't stay here

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was huge and it was so nice to have the little kitchen and dining space. Beds were comfortable and we had a great sleep each night. Lovely hosts and great location -- quiet and convenient.

Great hotel, would stay again.

The apartment was very spacious, clean and well equipped, the bed was very comfortable, it was very well situated to tour the area and had free parking, and there was also a gas station.

I can highly recommend this accommodation. The room was  very comfortable,  clean, spacious and the design was modern. The location is just by the ring road and only few kilometers away  from the new Vök Baths.

Wonderful

Allt mjög hreint og huggulegt. Rúmið og sængurfötin þægileg og mjög mikill kyrrð Svaf eins og engill þarna, mun nota þessa gistingu aftur 100% Sturtan mjög góð.

Everything very clean and cozy. The bed and sheets were comfortable and very quiet slept like an angel there will use this accommodation again 100:% The shower is very good.

 

Frábær gisting

We stayed one night in apartment No. 1, 2 bedroom apartment located on the ground floor. The apartment and the rooms are clean. The guest is nice and responsive to the messages. On the other hand, we were very disappointed about our apartment. Indeed, despite a sufficient total area, there was a lot of space lost: 2 halls (one in the entrance and another serving the rooms). The kitchen did not match at all the photos of the apartment 2 rooms dhotels.com. Based on the photos, we thought we had a kitchen with a large refrigerator with a refrigerator, a kitchen with a small kitchen with a very small storage area on the ground floor.

Accommodation inconsistent with photos and inadequate

New, modern and stylishly furnished, well soundproofed rooms, gentle and friendly management and ready to give directions. The parking lot is being refurbished, but you can park for free in front of the bakery.

All new.

We only stayed there one night. The room was in a newly built basement. It smelled bad. There was no view. There was no parking space in front of the house. There was no reception. You have to ring the doorbell and wait a long time until someone shows up. The room was clean. No storage in the bathroom.

1 night in the village

Driving the ring road and decided a night in a real bed would be a nice treat. Booked this one because it had accommodations for three people, most unusual in Iceland. 

The room was exactly as advertised, and quite comfortable. Three twin beds, a small but full kitchen, and a  large bathroom and shower.  Free WiFi and a flat screen TV that we never tried to use. I would have loved a laundry facility but that isn’t always easy to find.

The place is still a work in progress. The young man that owns it bought his grandfather’s house and added an addition to be the ‘hotel’. He lives on site and was available anytime if we needed him. The rooms have a side door opening on to the yard with a shipping pallet for a porch but it was clearly being prepped for more work outside when the weather warmed up. 

Egilsstadir is a beautiful and quiet town on a glacial river, but it closes completely by 10p.m. The 24hr gas stations are not manned after 10, and there is literally nothing open. If you arrive late, you will be making do with whatever you brought with you. Few places open before 10 or 11 a.m., so you will probably be making do until almost lunch time if you need supplies for the road. Forewarned is forearmed, please plan accordingly. 

I would actually rate them 4.7 stars because they don’t have on site laundry, it is the only thing that could have improved my stay. I would definitely stay here again.
