Good accommodation, great area! Staff was very helpful and accessible. Great spot for a family trip, there is a large playground in the middle and only a short walk to a beautiful lake where you can go fishing with the family

I've stayed there many times. You'll have plenty to do there. There is a bug climbing wall, water safari, football gold, frisbee golf. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend people to try it out.

We had a group of 17 here for 5 nights and were pleased with the hostel along with a full meal plan.  The prices are reasonable, the food good and the place was very clean.  Our special requests greeted with easy accommodation.  We walked to the hydro plant tour, scout museum, enjoyed many mountain hikes, hit the water obstacle course and even swam in the frigid lake. 

I did not start at the hostel but started in the campsite with my campervan. Its a gem of a place! Not many campers when we were there though there were some student groups from the hostel. There were adventure stuff for the kid and a nice kitchen to cook, eat and hang out. We went to the nearby lake for a stroll the following morning too. One of the best campsites I stayed in my 8 nights on the Ring Road.

As agroup of scouts, explorers and leaders from Crowle and Pershore, we all enjoyed our week stay at the site. On arrival we were met by Jakob, the owner, who was keen to help with sorting out our tents, all of which were new. The canteen was handy and the chef Bearda was awesome. She cooked lovely food and was so grateful we ate it all. The staff even caught fresh fish for us to enjoy. The shower facilities was good and clean. We enjoyed singing with the local scout  leader and Icelandic holiday makers over a camp fire. Nothing was too much trouble the manager And his brothers. 

We stayed at the Scout camp's hostel for one night August 2018.  As Canadian Girl Guides we were greeted warmly and felt very welcome.  It was awesome meeting Girl and Boy scouts from other countries.  The communal kitchen/dining area was very welcome so that we could cook supper in a warm dry environment and meet many other travellers.  I paid $210 Canadian for a very small room with two bunks.  Toilets and showers were shared.  It was definitely overpriced but Iceland is extremely expensive.  The breakfast was good and the coffee was excellent. I would stay again at the Scout camp just to bridge with other fellow Scouts from all over the world.  It was really cool and located on a beautiful lake and even with sheep to pet.  If you want 5 star or even 3 star this is not the place for you.  This is more for the backpacker or Scout type.

Hidden gem

Great base for a scout group.

It is a Scout camp.  Don't expect 5 stars

Amazing place

Very nice

No service, leaking tents, no heather in the kitchentent, use of the common room was forbidden in the evening. The toiletbuilding near our tents was closed. The food was loveless, tasteless and unhealthy. We left one night earlier because of the aggresive attitude of the owner.
