A Friendly Cottage

We paid IKr 8,000 cash and had a large, very well provisioned and clean self-catering wooden cabin to ourselves, with a decking area outside and access to some garden and a pool (weather a bit too cold for us to try this, though) with a view out over the water to Akureyri a little way away to the south. Car parking was very easy, just outside the door. The sun was blazing in through the window, a bright gold glow on everything at 2335; this is a really good place to relax, and remarkably cheap for what you get. Highly recommended although you may need to ask someone locally how to find it.
