The location of the hotel is excellent, it is located directly at the foot of the Sümeg castle hill. In addition to the classic hotel service, the family business also provides other services (museums, lectures, inn, horse riding, carriage rides, etc.). The wellness department is a full service, but very noisy. Rest is out of the question. The same applies to the main restaurant. Maybe there is an acoustic problem with them. The selection and quality of breakfast food and drinks is excellent, and average at dinner. Cleanliness is ok. The staff is very polite and helpful.

Hello, Kapitány!

I spent a long weekend there with my family to celebrate my birthday, and it was a very lovely experience. The place is beautiful and right next to the sumeg castle, the hotel staff were all friendly and helpful, especially with the food due to intolerance/being vegan. I also got a bottle wine from them on my birthday without even telling them about it, which was  really thoughtful. I would recommend the place to anyone who's looking for medieval vibes and relaxing.

Birthday visit

Brilliant location, beautiful scene and room. The catering is briliant. The staff is kind and polite. The spa and services make you satisfied.
Unfortunately, the local interests were closed on monday and tuesday however the castle is opened all week.

Amazing historical hotel

I personally like quiet places. This hotel has been quite busy with a lot of families and other middle-class people. Service is exceptionally professional: at every possible encounter fast, perfectly polite and helpful. The hotel itself is also well-designed for the public it serves. Pricing is also exactly corresponding to service received. The inner court may be a little crowded, we have been before the main season where one pool was already filled with water and we could cool ourselves in it after the sauna. A weird minus point is that the small pond in the sauna area is filled with warm water. Also, in the room, the curtains did not really blind light so the morning sun may wake you up. Dinner and breakfast were both enjoyable; not high cuisine but well composed so that both adults and kids can have a good meal. Combined with the nice little town of Sumeg, the castle, the hiking trail nearby, this place can be especially recommended for families with kids. Congratulations to the fantastic team, in terms of service, this place is a rare gem in Hungary.

Professional place that makes mass tourism an enjoyable experience

It was easy to park. Check-in was fast. Room was fine, minibar had drinks and some chocolate, but a kettle and some coffee would had been nice. Check-out was also fast and done by a very fruendky lady. I did not try the breakfast as I was in a hurry.

Nothing to claim

We had here 1 stay in July 2020. I cannot say it was something special. I liked the spa center (I tried massage and beauty center). We were not that lucky with the weather so we could not really enjoy the outside pool, yet they looked pretty small. The inside ones were quite good and proper for kids of all ages.
The food was ok-ish, I would have expected more...yet not sure if it was the hotel or the pandemic's "echo"..The castle next to the hotel worth to visit on a foot - we liked it.

We were at a work convention, the rooms are fine, although there was no cleaning, the buffet food is fine, the treatment is right, the conference room is small but nice.

No is a bad choice.

At 2009. we had here our wedding ceremony. Of course now, at the 10th anniversary we were here again. The Hotel is a very familiar one, with lot of very interesting programs. The rooms are perfect, an the restaurant there are tipical Hungarian food with helpful service. The wellnes is a little bit small, but nice.

Even though we've been to Sümeg many times, we've somehow never considered the Kapitány for a nice weekend-getaway wellness hotel. We had the last weekend free and since Sümeg is very close to us we thought why not go for a weekend, have a rest in the spa, and enjoy the views. This is one of the best hotels in western Hungary that's for sure. Very nice staff, clean rooms, big enough spa, and very good food. I can absolutely recommend it, we'll definitely come back too in the future.

Very nice for a getaway

We spent 2 night in this Hotel. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The view from the room was amazing. At night we saw the castl what it was lit. The food was delicious and various. We liked the wellness department. The staff was helpful and friendly. We will come back.
