Pozitive: The location 10 minutes from the Cave baths, the design of the wooden room on the 2nd floor (under the roof), with view and windows on 3 sides. The restaurant was very good, the meals were excellent, the personel of the restaurant also. 
Negative: The heating system of the hotel is not sufficient for a frozen night as the last nights were. The electric radiators were also not sufficient and the electric pluggins crushed. In the mornings there were 10-12 degrees C in the room. We moved to another room on the 1st floor, in the evening very warm, in the morning also cold. The bag of my wife was forgotten into the room and disapeared (between 10,25-11) (stolen!). The chance to have some intruder from outside is minimal. A very few tourist were in the hotel that morning.

Extremely cold nights in a nice wooden room

Generally the holiday village Miskolctapolca has a frozen stile of 20 years ago. Many not operated hotels, abandoned holiday homes, in April no people other than some local inhabitants a. Only the bath and the nearby park is nice. This small hotel has an interesting style of wooden look, but really not renovated for years. Kitchen is solidly good, mostly Hungarian style, nothing extra, wide selection of wines, many locals are visiting for lunch. I never saw their small pool and jacuzzi operating. We enjoyed, that at the other end of village, so we enjoyed walking much. Good motivation of employees, and below average room prices.you also cannot expect a 4star personnel end equipment...

Solid old Hungarian feeling

Had good rating with Booking.com. However: Bed had only mattress cover and had to demand sheet. This produced with reluctance and annoyance. Could only get a poor non operative wi fi signal in bedroom. Asked owner if there was a problem or maybe the room was not good. She just looked at her smart phone and said it is working and with total indifference resumed her office work and totally ignored further questions.
The bathroom was disgusting. Grouting in shower filthy and stained up to 1.6meters. A mix of black and brown. Shower curtains stained to a height of about 15cm all way round. Tap in shower and wash basin stained and pitted. Connectors in shower, wash basin and to toilet cistern a mix of green/blue verdigris and caked calcium. Shower and sink outlet rims filthy and packed with dirt. The shower attachment and the towel rail stained and pitted and the shower head in poor condition. A liquid soap dispenser had a filthy nozzle. Mirror had a corner broken off and rusting around the edges. Floor had missing grouting which was very dirty. I doubt anyone had cleaned behind the door for months leaving a wide strip of dirt. No plug in the sink - asking for one produced a reaction of total indifference despite asking twice - never did get it.
The room. Refrigerator was an old bar energy drink storage fridge which had seen better days and was dirty on top. TV was an old 22" CRT - No remote control again total indifference to a request for one. Bed nearly 2m wide but only 1 bedside lamp. Under the bed was only cleaned as far as a broom could go so you could see the accumulated dirt etc clearly from a couple of meters away. The chairs are so excruciatingly uncomfortable it is amazing that anyone bought them.
FOOD. The restaurant is quite good - however it is not half board as most would know it. There is an allowance in the evening from the main menu of 2500ft. As the cheapest main dish hits this sum if you want a starter or dessert you have to pay extra which strangely you have to pay there and then to the waiter it is not put on your room. BREAKFAST is unbelievable. Again a choice from the menu which means either scrambled eggs or omelette with fillings. This is served with cheap sliced white bread. There is NO breakfast bar so NO butter, spreads, jams, fruit juices, fruit, cereals and NO COFFEE. You are given a pot of ultra sweet peach tea or if you are lucky one day we got lukewarm iced tea. This is standard for everyone.
So how do safety laws apply to this establishment? There were a few emergency or low light level fittings which had been over stuck with a plastic exit sign which reduced their efficiency to about nil. So for practical purposes there was no emergency lighting to aid evacuation. None of these 'exit' signs had any direction arrows pointing the exit route. The corridor our room was in was pitch black and the only light switch to illuminate this was at the start of the corridor. There were no fire, evacuation or mustering point instructions in the room at all or in any of the corridors, stairs or anywhere else in the building we could see. Is this legal?
It would seem the restaurant enjoys a reasonable local reputation and this is more important to the owner. On site, during the day, was we assume the owners wife, as she seemed to run things. Unfortunately her hospitality skills leave a lot to be desired as she is the one with the attitude of indifference and who do you think you are bothering me. The lack of and poor facilities were doubly frustrating as she came and went in her BMW X6 and all we wanted was a sink plug (and a few other things). I would not stay here again if you paid me and would stress that this review is totally accurate and could have included even more negatives.

Probably the worst hotel experience we have ever had

The place was picked due to its high ratings on Booking.com, but honestly I do not understand how people could rate it so high? The floor was very squeaky, the furniture was old, the room had a very strange, dim lighting. The breakfast was included in the price, but I don't recommend having it) We paid 80 euros per this room and it's one of the worst conditions we have stayed in for this price in Hungary. The caves are a solid 20 minute walk from the hotel.
The only plus was a good Wifi signal in the room. I won't come back to this place again.
