DO NOT STAY HERE, After our plane was cancelled the Sunwing rep put us up here. It was literally disguising. Sheets were dirty and had holes in them. Blood on the curtains and bathroom wall. Shower had a tote in it full of water. Bathmat was filthy. The only good thing I have to say about this place is Angel and the security guard were very nice to us unlike the manager.

So i went to this nice place with a friend to relac and eat, we ordered some food, it was good, the lady that was our waiter was super nice and attentive the only issue we had was that after eating we saw the owner, he was behind the bar shirtless and was rapping the forks which we find very disgusting, some friends that we found there said he is like that all the time in the afternoons. Hopefully he stops doing that. Also he was being very rude to our waiter. Overall the food and service was good and we had fun at the pool.

Great service

We booked through Expedia and arrived to a very frazzled owner who had just taken over a few days ago. After a bit of a chat we got our room that had such a nice bathroom, aircon , hot water and a comfy bed. Bfast was not included but the Chinese restaurant was good. The pool area was lovely too and the staff, though a bit cold at first, are super kind once they warm up.
Location is okay ish, perfect to just relax and not do much. I'd definitely return :) 

Hotel is going through a change but lovely stayn

This hotel is surrounded by low income sketchy housing, It’s too far from anything to walk so a cab is necessary. The hotel itself is old and needs updating. The pool is nice but doesn’t make the old mattresses better or the lack of hot water during a shower go away. The rooms on the west side of the hotel don’t cool off in the afternoon because the sun. Moved rooms once to a cooler room to only realize the hot water didn’t work. Then offered to move to a third room. There are only 4 rooms in this hotel so you’re telling me 3 of the 4 have major issues? The beach (or lack of) near the hotel is not a place anyone would want to spend time, looks almost like dirt or mud instead of sand. To get access to the beach you have to walk by a house that is very low income, made me feel horrible for the occupants of it and very uncomfortable. Just not a place to go and relax. Only positive of this place is the low cost and availability. The trip we took was planned about a week in advance so rushed to book this place based on the rating of 4.6 out of 5 which is absolutely crazy. No way any hotel in the USA would be ranked 4.6 in the condition. This should be a high 3.0 out of 5.0 if you ask me but more like a 2.5. Most of the Staff was friendly which did help. Would not stay or recommend to anyone. Ended the trip early due to hotel contortion and was told the last two days could not be refunded by hotel supervisor due to booking online. If you’re looking to relax don’t go here. 

Rated way to high for an American vacation hotel

I stayed at Pirates Den on my own and was welcomed with open arms, as if I was part of the family.  The staff both in the restaurant and in the hotel treated me like a queen, shout out to Alexis, Chanely, Juan, Jefferson and really to everybody I had an encounter with.  In my opinion, I had the best room in the hotel, room #12, it was in the corner, with a hammock and a small porch, it was my private haven.  The hotel offers free breakfast and the juices are made daily and if you are extra nice and tip, you will have access to the fruits they have available and on the property and possibly even get it for you. The hotel is centralized, with a breathtaking view, just steps to the beach. At the time I arrive in Roatan, there was a storm prior to my arrival, so it rained for a few days so the beach below was not accessible but that did not deter me from doing other excursions that I had undertaken within the island. The hotel is away from the touristy spots, which I prefer, but is very accessible to those areas, you can take a cab to the West End for $1-$2 (10-12 min ride) and to West Bay for $4-$5 (15-20 min).  I personally rented a car, it gave me the opportunity to venture out and see all of the island, taste local food, swim other beaches and meet local people, I highly recommend it. I had been adviced prior to heading to Roatan that it is not a safe place to go, but it's the main land, Honduras that is unsafe as per the locals, but as in any unfamiliar country, one must take precaution and know ones sorrounding.  If you like to swim, snorkle, dive, zip line, see nature, the sea and the sun, then Roatan is waiting for you.
I know I will return to Roatan and Pirates Den will be my home away from home.  Till we  see each other again.

Stunning Views, Amazing staff, Centralized and Very affortable!!

Nice Patio and very friendly staff You feel like family from the very first Minute and everybody is very helpfully. The Restaurant offers excellent inexpensive meals.
The Room  was very clean for a Caribe  low cost destination.

Great Garen

We stayed here just one night, but would have loved to stay more if we didn't already have a booking somewhere else.  Super friendly staff.  Clean rooms with air con. Easy walk to a really nice beach with a reef for snorkeling.  The Asian food in the restaurant was well-priced and delicious.  And I loved the house dogs, Poochie and (can't remember the other one.)

Comfy, cozy, friendly

Very cozy, very clean & accommodating place. The staff are very pleasant. There is also a restaurant in site. It's Asian Gourmet which is the only Asian restaurant I know in the are. Price is very reasonable. 

Sandy Bay's best place

This is my second stay at Pirates Den Hotel; why look anywhere else. This property has it all in terms of a well kept, clean and relaxing vacation spot with breathtaking views of Sandy Bay, Roatan. I especially liked the hardwood flooring all around, the delicious Asian themed Ellen's Restaurant, English speaking TV channels and pleasant staff. Centrally located on the Island and only a $1.25 cab fare to the West End. The Calvery Chapel English speaking church, botanical gardens and Sunken Fish tree top restaurant only minutes away. 

Paradise

I came here with a friend during our backpacking trip across Central America, and it was such a luxury! We had a large room to ourselves with a beautiful view of the beach. The hotel is very close to West End and West Bay ($2 cab ride), and the staff showed us so much kindness. There's a hidden gem of a restaurant in the hotel called Ellen's place that serves authentic asian cuisine, you shouldn't miss it. I'd definitely pick this place again once I return to Roatan!!
