Hotel Chilles is THE BEST place to stay if you want a jungle immersed, local, genuine experience in West End ! We stayed in the Main Cabin and it had everything we needed- AC, a kitchen, comfy beds, safe, great community (mostly divers). And PLEASE try Yohongreh restaurant- holy cow ! That’s great food ! Have fun !

Happened across Chilies in 2016 and keep coming back. Love this place and its people.
I stay in a single cabin, it’s not fancy but for me it’s perfect. Clean, comfortable, porch with a hammock overlooking the lovely garden. 
Close to restaurants, shops and most importantly the beach & dive shop on site (Native Sons - also amazing)

February 03-06, 2025

Our check in was smooth and welcoming (thanks, Ashanti!) We stayed in one of the lovey private cabins situated on a winding path at the back of the property surrounded by the jungle gardens. The cabin was well equipped, with electricity, a hot water shower, sink and toilet in the bathroom, a full and twin bed (one for sleeping, one for sitting 😉) and both a ceiling and standing fan which we didn't need at night; we left the wonderful louvered shutters open and slept in the warm breezes... *sigh. We spent most of the time we weren't out playing sitting on the little covered front porch or dozing in the included hammock. I felt especially lucky to have the resident ginger cat "not Bob" choose me as his temporary person, and enjoyed just chilling with him watching the butterflies. The shared kitchen down the path was a perfect spot to store a few beers and say hello to the new neighbors.

We signed up with Native Sons Dive Shop right away, and had a quick refresher in the bay on our first morning there (it had been a few years since either of us dove, and my last prior dive experience *with another Dive company* was unfortunately not a pleasant one.) Alex made this nervous pupil feel so much at ease that we went out on a dive that same morning. I loved proving to myself that I was capable, and our dive master KC was very kind to her unofficial human barnacle.

Breakfast every morning at Yahongrey was a perfectly perfect way to start the day! I recommend the Typico; a pile of eggs, beans, avocado, fruit, and tortillas. *sigh again.

Always eager to be a responsible tourist, I was happy to receive a suggestion prior to our trip to bring school supplies in my carry-on luggage; the proprietors Michele and her husband Alvin (who founded Native Sons) organize donations for the local charity-run Charmont Bilingual Academy, and all I had to do was leave my donation at the office!

This place is magic.

Good vibes, really nice and simple bungalows just a minute away from the half moon bay beach and native sons diving center. Great communication with owner and a lovely and helpful reception lady  on site! ( she will help with organizing trips or taxis with a big smile )
Safe, comfortable , close to restaurants and bars. Loved the stay though I would make a good chicken soup with a wild rouster who has his own party from time to time 
definitely would recommend a stay at Chillies! 
Breakfast place next door is nice to have a quick meal before or after diving

I've stayed twice and can't wait to go back. The property is beautiful and directly across from the beach. Staff are amazing, very helpful and friendly. With the dive shop and Yahongreh? right on site, you can't beat the convivence. I've stayed in both the Mango Studio and a Cabin. No A/C in the cabins but the jungle surround and multiple fans make it comfortable.

I stayed with hotel chilies as a solo female traveler on a scuba diving trip. I had a wonderful experience! The entire staff was friendly and thoughtful. The room was simple and clean, and the air conditioner worked great on the nights I used it. I was a little nervous traveling alone as it was my first time, but I felt safe and looked after  the entire trip. I  felt comfortable enough to sleep outside on one of the hammocks on a cool night just to enjoy the environment. The location was perfect - right in the middle of everything, and beach access was a few steps away. I loved the little restaurant and the garden vibe of the property. 

I got my advanced open water certification with Native Sons, the on-site dive shop.  All the dive masters were great. I truly feel that I received a top notch education.  I also did several adventure dives which never disappointed. 

I will be sure to recommend Hotel Chilies and Native Sons to anyone planning to visit Roatan .  Thank you all for a lovely experience!

I stayed at hotel chillies for almost a week and had a great time here. If you’re looking for a hotel surrounded by nature, then this is it. The staff seem to be all locally hired, which I love. The receptionist, Ashanty, thoroughly explained my different options for stay with them, since I decided to book last minute in person. She created a very warm & welcoming environment and gave great recommendations for activities to do as well as places to eat. This was my first time traveling, and she helped in making my trip one I will never forget. They also have delicious food and drinks as part of the front of the hotel and have security during the late hours. I would definitely come back to hotel chillies.

Was recommended this place to stay in West End district and wasn’t disappointed. Beautiful cabins, clean , lovely staff and has best budget breakfast cafe at front of building. Also opposite best bar with lethal cocktails and great live music. Highly recommend

I stayed at Hotel Chillies on a recommendation from a friend from March 29-April 6, 2024, as a solo traveller. It was my first time to Roatan. Being inquisitive and a planner, I booked Chillies over email and asked many questions, all of which were answered by Michele, the owner, quickly and thoroughly.

Timely communication is important to me as a traveller, and Michele exceeded my expectations.

I arrived later in the day on Good Friday and Michele gave me my key and, since the office was closed, told me not to worry about the deposit or paperwork and go get dinner. That laid-back, island vibe is EXACTLY what I was hoping for, and that was the last moment I felt like I was travelling on my own – you're not a stranger for long at Chillies.

The staff and people are so friendly, the cabins are on a shared path that encourages saying hello to your neighbours, and the common areas at the tasty and affordable restaurant (Yahongreh) and fantastic Dive Shop (Native Sons) create an old-school hostel atmosphere that encourages conversation and camaraderie that this old backpacker hasn't experienced since the days before cell phones (though wifi is strong throughout).

I immediately felt right at home.

The cabins (I was in #6) are under a canopy of trees, providing plenty of shade, and my cabin was just the right size. It had a great porch with a hammock and chairs for lounging and napping, and a line for drying clothes. Although it had no air conditioning, a strong ceiling fan kept me more than comfortable at night. Hard-working staff change the sheets and tidy things up every day.

The location in West End is fantastic. There's a beach and bars/food across the street, but you're far enough away from the busiest areas of West End to maintain that laid-back feel, though you're just a minute from the action on foot. A grocery store is just a couple doors down for snacks, drinks, etc.

I obtained my PADI Open Water dive certificate with Native Sons Dive Shop, located at the front of Hotel Chillies and under the same ownership (so no need to pay as you go, it all got added to the same tab – very convenient!). To say the experience was incredible is an understatement. My Dive Master Kasey was kind, funny and patient, but wouldn't hesitate to challenge me to get out of my comfort zone and complete aspects of the training that I struggled with. 

She helped me do achieve something I'd always dreamed, and it was such a great experience.

Over three days, I dove four times to obtain my PADI and then did four more recreational dives with Native Sons, with Dive Masters Eddie, Alex and Germaine, and all were fantastic leaders, helping me along as I continued to gain experience. I highly recommend diving with Native Sons, even if you're not staying at Chillies. 

I can't wait until my next trip to Roatan and I'll definitely be staying with my friends at Hotel Chillies next time!

Just returned from my 12th visit to Chillies / Native Sons and can hardly wait for my next visit.  Everything a diver needs is right there - accommodations ranging from hostel-style rooms through private cabins to more upscale suites, a cafe on site for breakfast and lunch, the Mesoamerican reef right outside the door, the Caribbean charm of West End village, a terrific dive shop with competent and friendly instructors/divemasters, and owners and staff who are welcoming and helpful.  A trip to Chillies / Native Sons is always a pleasure.

If you are looking for a place to stay and dive look no further. Hotel Chilies staff will take great care of you, the rooms and simple and clean. The dive shop is out front and a small restaurant Yahongreh is on property serving breakfast and lunch. This is a family run place where you will get to know everyone. Located adjacent to the beach within a 5-10 minute there are multiple restaurants, stores, bars anything you could possibly need while visiting West End. The water taxi is close by as well. Anything you will need the staff would be more than happy to help you with. Do not hesitate to book a stay here.
