I've been through Copan a number of times, I have friends there, and I love the little and this place is just right for travelers. Clean, water, comfy.
   The only thing is this website doesn't allow me to tell you when I was there last because they only go back to 2018, and I haven;t been there in over 8 years, but I really liked it

I stayed there in Aug 2014 for 3 days. The staff was great and took my friend and me in with no prior reservations. Poor planning on my part. They treated us like family and had security on site. The room was comfortable and clean enough. I liked the colonial feel to the entire hotel. The location in the town was great.  I’ve stayed in some cheap crash pads around the world and this was one among the classier ones. I would recommend a second story room if you could get it

We have stay there for 2 nights. The price was really good, and is just in the central park of the village, where is everything there, this village was really small and beautifully. They treat to us really good. We do with him a tour with a very good guide, his name Saul, ask for him to do this. The tour begins in the outsides seeing the sunrise in the top of a mountain with a Mayan sculpture and finish in the ruins. Without him this 2 days there has been really different. They told to us all cheap and good places to lunch and drink. 

We did not stay at this property but instead booked tours to Rubi waterfalls and El Boqueron cave.  The man who booked the tour for us was very friendly and helpful and gave us a break on the cost to so both tours in one day.

We left very close to the appointed time and piled into the back of a pick ip truck to head to the cave first.  It was just the two of us but we had three guides!  Harmano was the main guide, an older gentleman who could speak skme English, the nephew of the owner of the Hotel (we only knew him as "monkey man" because he took great lengths to not get wet in the cave), and our driver whose name we never got, but he also served as the gaurd for the tour.

The weather was overcast with light rain, which made the ride in the back of the truck a lot of fun.  The road to the cave was bumpy and slick so we ended up having to walk a lot further than usual so that the truck did not get stuck.  If it is wet outside, you will get muddy.   The hike to the cave was no problem for us, we are fit people, others might find it challenging.  We brought our own headlamps.... i suggest the same so that you don't need to use a hand torch that night get in your way.  The cave itself is quite large in diameter and length.  It took us a couple of ours to get all the was in and back again.  Expect to climb over boulders and even under a few.  There were no tight squeezes.  You will be sloshing through water... not too cold, but expect to be soaked from the waist down.  You need shoes, flip flops or sandals will get you hurt.  Also, it is slippery and you will get your hands cover in bat crap.... but hey, it is a cave.  There are nice formations in the cave and I found it mpre spectacular on the way back through than on the way in.  I highly suggest hiring a guide for the follpwing reasons: it is hard to find kn your own, transportation will be hard to get even if you know the way, you have to travel over private property to get there... the guides know where to go and who to talk to, and  there have been reports of people being robbed along the way.... It isn't just a story to get you to hire a guide; our guard at the entrance of the cave was a big dude and there was no other reason that I could see that he carrying that machete in plain view in his hand for everyone else to see.  Our guides were really patient and really nice.  The guard spent the time while we were in the cave collecting garbage.  We were told we were the first foreigners to take this cave trip in three years!  The garbage was from nationals who had been there during Semena Santa.
After the cave we returned to Copan Ruinas for a light lunch (not provided), then quickly set out for Rubi.  It was unnecessary to return to Copan but we think it was somthe guides could have lunch for free.  It meant a longer day, but they did not complain and gave us what ever time we needed tomeat our own lunch... excellent service by our guides.

Rubi waterfalll is a really short hike, and i am glad that we combined it with the cave tour, it is not really worth the full price in my opinion.  However, I might have felt differently if it was a hot day and we actually went swiming in the water.  Instead we took some photos and all took the time to clean up garbage which was rewarding for us.  Like the cave, Nationals during Semena Santa had left a lot of garbage behind.  I am happy to report it is much cleaner now for you to enjoy!

I highly recommend the cave tour, Rubi is fine, but only if you have the time and nothing better to do.  You can't go wrong hiring Yaragua tours, it is not cheap, but it is likely the only way we would have got to do this without a lot of difficulty and some unnecessary risk.  Plus it was a private tour!

Though the employees I interacted with were perfectly pleasant, almost everything else about the hotel was disappointing: dirty walls, rough towels, tiny rooms, uncomfortable beds, no complimentary drinking water. Next time I come back to Copán Ruinas I will look for a different hotel.
