My sister and I spent 2 wonderful nights here. A great place to relax and recharge during a hectic vacation. We were there shortly after a hurricane came through,  but it was still great, swimming, sitting on deck enjoying the lake, wildlife (we saw monkeys in the trees). And the meals were homemade and fresh and delicious.  Relax 

Relaxation by the lake

We brought our son and daughter after visiting Tikal.  We thoroughly enjoyed the lake.   The water felt really good—-so warm on the surface.   And we really enjoyed our food.   We only stayed 4 hours, but it was a great place to relax.  A bit of paradise!

A vacation highlight

I didn't stay overnight here as a guest,  but it's a good distance for a bicycle ride from El Remate. Just long enough to break a sweat, and then you get to go swimming at a very peaceful dock while watching the howler monkeys climb through the trees overhead. The water was clear and the perfect temperarure. The smoothies and food were delicious. Such a good spot.

A must if you come to Peten, best place to relax and have a really great meal! excellent service, excellent food, beautiful place! quiet and relaxing. Minutes away from the arquelogical parks, Tikal, Yaxha and more.

Beutiful Paradise!

My Fiancé and I got engaged at the start of this trip an visited El Encantadero for a few nights of our 2 week adventure through Guatemala and Belize.  Christina was a wonderful host and very helpful. She's also an amazing cook and the food is delicious and exciting to look forward to (some of the best food we ate during his trip) which included stops in Antigua, Lake Atitlan and Caye caulker Belize.  The property and the lake are even more beatiful in person and the pictures online do not do it justice.  If you're looking to get away from normal life for awhile and relax in one of the most peaceful and beautiful places, this will not disappoint. Our first morning there were howler monkeys in the trees directly above us while eating a wonderful breakfast.  And then that night, the monkeys slept at the property and we were awakened at sunrise by the incredible and eerie howls of the howler monkeys.  The sunrises here on clear days are unbeatable. 

Couple things to note, They only host one guest/couple/family at a time which I was not aware of when we booked this--there's only the one cabin. So we were the only ones here, which is not a bad thing since you get the full attention of Christina and her wonderful staff.  But if you're the type who likes to meet other couples, etc. this is not you're best choice.  One other important aspect to note, is that El Encantadero is great as a remote getaway, but if you plan to use it as a jumping off point to visit other attractions in the area (Tikal/Flores etc.) you need to be prepared.  El Encantadero is about 10km from El Remate (the main jumping point to Tikal) down a bumpy pothole filled dirt road, about a 20 minute ride. The tour operators/shuttles in El Remate would not agree to pick us up at the hotel because it is too remote and the locals don't like the condition of the road.  This leaves expensive cabs or the local and unreliable/infrequent bus service as the only option to get around.  It all adds up to an extra costs, lost time, and inconvenience. Christina has a relationship with a good cab driver, Eddy, who is happy to pick you up to go wherever you want, but it takes more time and costs more.  We paid him $60 US for round trip for transportation to and from Tikal. That same trip can be had for $12 per person via collective shuttle/van from El Remate area. On the other hand, the el remate hotels did not look nice and we heard of people having really awful food. We had amazing food and the place is beatiful.

Romantic Getaway

Little paradise in Peten, great experience with the family, excellent service, delicious food and fantastic place to swim. The sunset was fantastic! The hamacas they have are the best to relax and admire the lake and landscape, It's well located, 30 minutes driving from Flores.  El lugar encanta!!!

Situation on Lake Peten, this lovely B&B is a lakeside paradise. I felt completely welcome and ended up staying three nights rather than the single night originally booked. Fantastic swimming,running, hammock swinging. Great meals prepared by the chef of the former well known Las Puertas restaurant in Flores. Highly recommended!
