So beautiful and such a unique stay, I can’t wait to go back! La Fortuna felt like a unique, luxury experience and the perfect place to relax/unwind. Service is amazing and the staff is so kind. It was easy to get to La Fortuna, we booked a private boat to get to the hotel ($15). Really liked that the resort was in a remote location and only guests could enter the hotel.

This was the perfect peaceful honeymoon paradise. Would come here again. Definitely worth the stay! The staff was friendly and kind and the food was healthy and delicious. Loved that we didn’t even have to leave the room, room service was amazing!! Definitely recommend for a romantic getaway!

Our stay at La Fortuna was phenomenal! We were welcomed by Angelica at the docks which set the tone of hospitality and warmth for the rest of the stay. The staff went above and beyond ensuring a perfect stay. The location of the hotel is ideal for relaxation and offers breathtaking views of the volcanoes. We stayed at Suite #1; which is well maintained, very clean and spacious. The cherry on top was meeting the doggies! We loved their company while enjoying the sunset. We will love to return to this paradise.

Skip Bali and the Maldives, head straight to La Fortuna instead. Tucked away in a cove on Lake Atitlan, this eco-friendly hotel has just 5 rooms, so you know you're getting the peace and quiet you've been craving. It's a little slice of private paradise only reachable by boat, where I spent my days chilling by the lake with a book in one hand and a drink in the other.

They've have private boat transfers that are affordable and make getting there a breeze. But if you can also take the public boats and can zip you over to the nearby towns. San Marcos was a personal fave of mine. I checked out a couple of other places to stay around the lake, but La Fortuna? Hands down, it was my favorite. 

The food? Amazing. The staff? Couldn't be nicer. Felt like I was at the most luxurious summer camp or retreat for grown-ups. Seriously, try to book your trip around when they've got a room free – it's worth it.

After tackling the Acatenango hike, winding down here was just what I needed.

This is one of the best experiences I have ever experienced. It’s secluded, beautiful and feels at home. You will feel free and relaxed. The rooms are beautiful, bathrooms amazing, food amazing. Wine cellar choice amazing. Location breath taking . Staff very caring and helpful! It’s just amazing! 😊

This was my first time in Guatemala and at Lake Atitlan. I've heard it was gorgeous, but the length it takes to get there originally gave me pause. The team at La Fortuna truly took time and patience to answer all of my many questions, as well as, book our transportation from Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan and back. They were communicative, committed, and efficient. I can't say enough about the staff and the team. 

The property was absolutely gorgeous and our suite was the perfect setting to celebrate a birthday for someone in our group. The cuisine was delicious and the drinks were stellar. Our suite was clean and comfortable. It was all just perfect. 

I'd highly recommend booking a photoshoot with @jpmfoto on IG. His photography skills are phenomenal! 

We had an absolutely incredible two-night stay at La Fortuna! This is one of those hotels that looks magical online, and is somehow even better once experienced in person. The views are sublime, it's secluded but still easily accessible via boat, and the property has the perfect combination of eco-friendliness and rusticness while still maintaining a high level of luxury. We loved the hot tub and converted sauna, the dining area with picture windows overlooking the lake, and the various lounging areas on the property. We stayed in Suite #2 and the rain shower was a real perk!! Service was also great, including pre-arrival communication and clear instructions via email and WhatsApp, and the general attitude of the receptionists while we were there. The whole staff was so friendly and accommodating, which made the stay even better. I can't recommend this property enough!

I stayed in Suite 5 and it was well worth it. Book in advance as the rooms go quickly. The views were amazing, the property is gorgeous!!!! It is perfect for a quiet and calm vacation, and if you want to spice it up you can take a boat over to another port to experience some night life.
Don’t forget to try out the sauna ☺️

I met some of the other guest during dinners and just time on the property.  It gives a close, comfortable and calming vibe.

The staff was super helpful and absolutely pleasant (even when you arrive at 1am). Service was excellent🥰

Beautiful and Relaxing

We had high expectations based on the photos and reviews and were not disappointed. My husband and I spent four nights in one of their petite bungalows. They are very small but we loved it  - and what a bargain. You spend most of the time outside enjoying the property or hiking, kayaking, visiting towns on the lake, etc. so we never felt we were missing out on a bigger room. All of the staff were so helpful and kind, and the breakfasts delivered to our bungalow every morning with a thermos of coffee were delicious and a great way to start the day. If you like the outdoors and natural beauty and want just a bit of pampering this is the place for you.

Just as amazing as it looks

La Fortuna was an unforgettable experience. The kindest, most patient and hard working staff, fresh delicious and affordable meals, great wine and bar selection, perfect location only 5 minute boat ride (about $2) to the hotel and maybe 30 minutes to San Marcos & San Pedro. The dogs made us feel right at home. Clean and safe bungalow, beautiful accommodations and the lake was very clean at this location. I took the paddle board out while my husband swam laps in the blue water every day. Gloria (and her mom) and Enrique were very helpful in suggestions on where to go and what to do. I highly recommend the “El Tata” coffee tour in San Juan just 45-60 minutes tour that shows the amazing process on their organic coffee farming techniques with the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had at the end. We will definitely be back! 

La Fortuna Fortune

We splurged for this hotel for our honeymoon and it was nice. The property was nice and the rooms were gorgeous. Our breakfasts and dinners were incredible. They helped us arrange for massages and the massage was one of the best massages we've ever had. She was incredible. 

Also Marisa at the front desk was so sweet.

Our qualms: 
We noticed the prices in cocktails changed from the first night to the second night being higher for the same drinks. We felt like they heard us talking about how affordable Guatemala is and how much things are in the states and suddenly they were higher. 

Also they heat the hot tub starting at noon and stop heating it at 4:00 PM. We didn't want to go in the hot tub in the afternoon since it was warm enough outside and wanted to use it in the evening but by 6:00 PM it was already cold water. 

At check out when we had to pay our final bill the lady was a little rude and snippy with us which unfortunately left us on the boat with a sour taste in our mouths. No one really made it a point to say happy honeymoon either like 

Overall we loved our stay the bathrooms/showers in both rooms we stayed in were awesome. Having breakfast delivered on the porch in the morning was so amazing.
 If I could do it again I would bring a bath bomb or bath salts for the bath instead of relying on the hot tub.
