Katarina and Michalis came to pick me up at the port and from there it was like being at home. Great sea views just out of Skopelos town but within a short walk. Clean and large room. A touch of humaness which made the difference.

With this family run Greek hotel we found what we wanted. Beautiful surroundings, sea within reach, wonderful hostess, rooms having all you need.
Also close to town center and buses taking you around the island and to many beaches

I usually start my reviews with the dimension of the room the facilities, location etc. For this time, though, I will start with the most extrordinary asset this place has: the owner hospitality!
We had a bad start of vacation: we drove 14 hours from bucharest to portaria and half of the way I was sick. We slept 5 hours to be at 6.30-7.00 in volos at the hellenic seaways ferry to reach skopelos. Unfortunatelly for us and another tens of people, the ferry was broken and they were not able to say if or when it will work. So for each 1-2 hours we had to come back to their agency to check what is the status and this for the next 12 hours because we left at 19:53! But the moment we reached skopelos everything changed.
We were expected in the port by the doughter of the lady-owner (it was after 12:00 in the night) - this was the first sign of hospitality. When we reached the studio, the first thing we saw was the superb view from the balcony. Then, we were offered some fresh fruits and the frige had already ice cubs in it. This was the second sign of hospitality. In a morning, the owner came to give us a jar with plum jam made by herself. In another one, she came to give as a traditional skopelos pie barely cooked by herself for breakfast. Plus invitations to coffee, the desire to speak in english with us, though not handy and so on. For us this was very inexpected, simple gestures, without being intrusive, showing care for the guests to feel welcomed. First of all because of this (but not only), this studio is one of the best places we spent vacations in.
Now the rest: the room is big enough, with kitchen, tv, air conditioned (we never used it because the room is quite pleasant. The garbage is colected daily and the linen chaged at every 2 days. The balcony has a great view of the town that you can admire all day long. The location is very convenient: not directly in the crowded port, but 500 meters away as you go along the see (very nice walking each night), just behind the archeological sites, in a very accessible and quite area. You have closed tavernas, a supermarket etc. There is no private parking available but it is easy to find a place near the studio. Pay attention: from the main street you need to walk few meters on a leaning alley :) (don't worry, nothin serious).
Improvements:
- renew the linens, they are quite old
- shower curtain
- keep the insects away (there were some ants in the first days). In one day even a very little lizard entered into our room, my boyfriend explained me that this means being close to nature, not to betons as I am used to :)
To conclude: if you want a warm place, with beautiful view, in a quite and relaxing place, near the see - go there. If you want a spotless shining place, with cold well-educated employees - you can find few 4-5 stars hotels in skopelos but you will miss an important aspect of the place: the people!

Great hospitality 

Nice and quiet

The positive:
The wiew from the balcony (sea side) , the location, the ovwner;comming with Skopelos pie one morning, and a very sweet lady

The negative: 
Not propely cleaning, really bad madrasses, tiny bathroom where everyting got wet, lac of information when there was problems with the wather, lousy Internett access in the room. 

Average

We have visited Skopelos a number of times. We are used to the Greek eutentian style. Simply with lots of charm.

Summer 2018 we booked a week at Splitalia. Must admit we were a bit disappointed. 

Cute and lovely people can not compensate for the lack of quality in the rooms.

The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom is small and has a noisy fan. 
Cleaning is not at top level. wifi unstable (not important to us). TV-service is a joke

The positive: location, it's an easy walk to the resurants and the beach bus.  10-12 min. Nice little balcony for two people.

Skopelos is the most beautiful Greek island. We will be back, but then we will stay somewhere else. Sorry to say.....
