Gialos Village Beach Apartments

The apartments are basically, but tastefully furnished. Kitchen is rather small, but adequate for a holiday stay - the air conditioning works well.
The location is excellent - very peaceful, and right on the sea. The site also has a pool, a basketball court and use of a sea canoe. The bay is a few kilometers from Monemvasia, and there is very little light pollution - leading to amazing star displays at night.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our hire car, and they made the necessary phone calls to sort it out for us.
The site has a snack bar where you can order food and drink, and use the internet via WiFi.
Other families staying there come back year after year, and we can see why. 

As we were leaving we were already planning to visit again.

We stayed there the last week of July. There are 18 appartments which are built on a rocky beach at about 10 km away from the town of Monemvasia at a magnificent gulf. The place is very quiet and it is very relaxing to have the sea in front of your feet and viewing it all day long either from your veranda, or using the bed-chairs on the beach. The sea water is very clear and warm, but there is a river nearby who cools the surface of the water and so you can feel cool on the surface and warm in your feet! You have to be a liitle careful getting into the water from the rocks, but then it ' all right. It is ver y good that the wind can 't cause waves there. The appartments are well equipped, they have a kitchen and air-condition. We were surprised that there was olive oil, sugar and salt. The bed for the adults is a bit small, especially for tall people or people of a size. There is a small swimming pool (for kids it is ideal), basket-ball, volley-ball, a table tennis unit, a mini gym machine and 2 canoes free of charge. In a distance of 2-3 km you can find tavernas with very good Greek food (I recommend "Athas" in the village of Agios Ioannis). You can use the complex as a base for touring the area of Laconia, where the ancient Spartans lived. We travelled to the area of Mani with the tower-built houses and the Diros cave, to the island of Elafonisos with the famous Simos beach (a huge sandy beach like the Bahamas, with no stones at all), the city of Sparta and the Mistras byzantine ruins and the village of Kiparisi, with breathtaking views. We also visited the ancient city of Monemvasia on the big rock. We had a very nice time and we are thankful to the owner of the complex, who is very polite and can give you information of what to do.

A wonderful location for a family, with warm hospitality

Gialos a little touch of paradise

We stayed at the facility for four nights.
We wanted a place to stay for the nights after touring around Monemvasia.

The location is ideal. Not to far away from the Castle and other sights. Hi

The apts are extremely spacious. Each bedroom with its own shower which is very useful for families.

Clean enough though some of the facilities are quite old.

The surrounding area is nice. Olive and other trees by the sea. You get to see a wonderful sunrise and the water is crystal clear.

Nevertheless, don't expect any sandy beach 

The shared facilities are available but need to be replaced. The sunbeds look 40 years old, the BBQ grates are full of rust, the beach volley field and net and the ping pong table and net ... rust in peace.

The pool was closed due to Covid... 

Would visit the place again but not too enjoy what it provides.

I don't know if it is a bit abandoned due to the Covid crisis, but I paid quite a lot of money and I expected the facilities provided to be there and in good shape.

Needs improvements/not value for money

My husband and I stayed here with two friends in a 2-room apartment.  It was the beginning of the season, we were staying for the Easter celebration in old town Monemvasia.  We had to have been the first guests of the year, as evidenced by the completely mildewed toilet paper roll sagging in our bathroom.  The second night we had an onslaught of 9 centipedes  stuck to the walls and under the beds.  The bed covers have not been changed in years and have worn edges and stains, and right in the middle of my bed was a small smear stain of some sort on the sheets.  It was down right impossible for me to crawl into bed the first night.  We were taking rapid showers, turning off the water in between soapings to conserve hot water, and we had to wait about 45 minutes after each shower to ensure the water would be hot again.  The kitchen is a hodge-podge of cabinets thrown up on the wall to make do.  Cleaning buckets and mops were left on our balcony.    During breakfast, I had a dirty fork so I placed it on the buffet table to be collected, and the next day, it was still there amongst the food.   Followed by two other pieces of dirty silverware the next day.  Yuck.  The bread from the day before was swarming with knats.  I cannot believe we paid 60 Euro a couple to stay here.

It's a shame...the owner is downright lovely, giving us Easter events info and restaurant recommendations.  When we left she provided us with  a jug of homemade wine and fruit preserves to take with us on our drive home.  The only thing great about this place is the view from the balcony and it's position on the water.   It would be a great place to swim in the summer.
