JK Hotel

I absolutely loved my stay here. The staff are very friendly, some fluent in English. One in particular sorted out a couple of day trips for me, another helped when one trip was late to pick me up (I was becoming very worried but she rang and all was fine) Although on a high street, noise could not be heard when the balcony door was shut. I heard no noise whatsoever from other rooms although the hotel was quite full. The room was luxurious, bed comfy, not too soft. I slept well. All toiletries provided and sweet smelling. Great A/C. TV in room. No kettle in room but one in the breakfast room is available all day. Hotel was very clean, a slight greek beatnik feel. Breakfast was usual and plentiful ~ toast, butter, marmalade or jam, various cheeses, tomatoes, cooked eggs, sausages, various teas and speculated coffee. The pool is on the roof so catches the sun all day and there is a slight breeze. The pool and pool area in very clean. Strangely and thankfully the pool was never busy. Also a shower and toilet on the roof. There are comfy, shaded areas when the sun is too much. There is a view of the Parthenon which especially shows at night when it's lit up. Can't praise the hotel and staff enough, I would definitely recommend and would return. Metro entrance is just over the road ~ very easy to use. English instructions available. There are a few coffee shops nearby, prices range quite a bit so beware. One place I ate a few times cost under €5 for tasty pizza and a drink! (Left of the hotel, five minutes, walk near a fountain). I tended to only eat out once a day, buying a few bits from the small supermarket opposite. A delicatessen is by the furthest Metro entrance which has really lovely food and again, very cheap. The Parthenon is a few stops on the Metro or about twenty minutes walk. It's worth paying a bit extra to allow entrance to other sites. There is plenty to see, many places can be seen without going in but of course you don't get the full experience. I had wanted to go to Athens for over fifteen years when I went on a day trip. This was the trip of my dreams.
