Our last minute trip to Parga turned out to be one of the best breaks we’ve ever took.

Nikolaou Studios is the perfect spot for a couple or a family who needs the perfect view and the perfect place to stay all in one.

The place is located on the hills of Parga overlooking the beautiful Valtos Beach. The views are outstanding 24 hours a day. There’s always a nice breeze which makes it so pleasant to sleep with the balcony door open. 
The room is various spacious, fully equipped with a kitchen, fridge, AC and very comfortable beds.
It’s super clean and it feels really comfortable staying here. 
Rooms cleaned daily and it feels like you walked in for the first time every day. 

The Appartments are surrounded by beautiful olive trees (probably the prettiest and tallest ones we’ve ever seen) and the front yard is also very comfortable for an afternoon coffee or snack on the tables provides in front of every apartment.

There is also plenty of parking space in case you got a car.

The owners were one of a kind. Such a welcoming and friendly family. They provided us with all the information we needed and made our stay even more wonderful. We ended up talking for hours! That’s how nice they were.

Definitely recommend this place with eyes closed

Perfect view, super clean, super friendly

This time my wife had sunburn and we have to stay in studio more than we planned. That was reason of my excitement with studio, with stuff and Stefanos of course. 
This excellent studio is on hill near Parga. So if you travel without a car maybe a problem to walk to town and nearby  beaches. But we saw people walking. Of course you can rent a scooter. So that can be disadvantage now lets talk about why me and my wife will come again here for sure. Studio is on hill, so you have wonderful look on bay and beach. Studio have parking, small kitchen, bedroom, balcony with sea view, entrance hall with table and chairs. You can hear sea waves whole time! Studio have excellent temperature protection, no need for air conditioner. So in one word: you can spent whole time on balcony and you will not be disappointed. Everything is clean, stuff comes every day to check studio ,change towels and what is need. There is no bees, flies , I mean not only studio, aslo whole Parga is clean. 
Only what you need for good vacation is to come here and take something for mosquitoes. 

Best value studio

The shower was unacceptable, with no curtain or door so the whole bathroom got flooded everytime we took a shower. Ridiculous. The beds were hell to sleep on, extremely hard and short, my partner's feet were dangling off the end.
At checkout, I wished to pay with a credit card. Was told by the proprietor: 
"Oh...you're paying by card? We'll have to call my brother to come and swipe it as I don't know how to." I asked how long it would take, he said 'Oh...probably around 10 minutes, hopefully."
BEWARE, this is a trick they use to get cash out of you instead of paying credit. I even called him out on it and he ignored me. I found the proprietors rude and unwelcoming, at check-in, he even went as far to complain to us that we and other couples would only come and stay one night and then leave, suggesting it wasn't worth it to rent out rooms for 1-2 nights at a time. Would absolutely not stay here again.

Book elsewhere, not worth it.

We had been to Parga 6 times previously and Valtos once (early May this year where we stayed at the Stefanos Apratments across the road from the Nikolaou) and as always with Parga and Valtos left with a 'best holiday ever' feeling; that was untill we stayed in the Nikolaou studios in August this year (2013); we had met Nick the owner in May and thought he was a nice guy then & were looking forward to staying in his apartments in August but when we arrived we saw a whole different Nick,he seemed off with us from the start, he put us in the worst room which the rep. told us we shouldn't have been in, then to top it all off accused us of breaking a light outside our appartment which we knew nothing about and was extremely rude to both me,my wife and the Manos rep Sue (brought her to tears) with all the hostillaty of this arguement he made us feel isolated in our appartment (which they only cleaned twice in a whole week- even the toilet bin) and totally ruined the last few days of our holiday, we have a lot of Greek friends in Parga and have been coming to Greece in general for the past 15 years and love the people, with the exception of Nick who is awful, these might be the cheapest apartments in Valtos but its not worth being put in a situation like we were in to save a few bob, avoid it like the plague - even Manos have jumped ship for next year

Avoid at all costs!!!

We started this on Trip Advisor as we were really disappointed that we could not find any information about these appartments before booking! We did book anyway as the price was too good to miss and we knew the area.

We booked via Manos (Thomas Cook) for 2 weeks in July and were lucky to be on the early flight so arrived early afternoon.

The transfer was exactly as described by the previous reviewer and pretty straightforward.

The apartment we stayed in was Number 1 ... and was perfect for us. It was right at the back with a huge private patio. It seemed to be the biggest appartment and was possibly the owners accoummodation at a previous time. Typically Greek basic accommodation and very clean.

The kitchen was well equipped but we preferred to eat out. It had a massive fridge freezer so great for all our water, wine and beer! Every night we froze a bottle of water to keep our other water and snacks chilled in the bag and was lovely to drink ice cold water as it defrosted and we topped up from the other bottles (Top Tip!!)

The walk to Valtos and Parga is exactly as described by the previous reviewer too so best for people who enjoy a walk ... and a very pleasant one too.

You have full use of the pool at Mango Bar just 50 yards down the road which is a large deep pool plus 2 small shallow pools with a Bar serving drinks and snacks ... very nice and plenty of sunbeds!

Would recommend!

Traditional Greek Appartments - Lovely Owners!

I promised I would post a review of these studios, as someone on a thread I posted a while ago asked if I could and people were so helpful on this forum for me when I was looking, thought I'd return the favour!

We booked through Manos and were transferred to the studios via a Thomas cook bus which firstly stops in Parga then heads down to Valtos beach. You have to get a minibus from there as the roads are too narrow for the big buses to get down. This is all done quickly and efficiently though, as I imagine it's now a well-practised process! The studios are situated at the far end of Valtos, joined to a little supermarket that is owned by the people who own/look after the studios. Upon arriving - at about 11pm - the owners kept the supermarket open so we could get a few essentials and ask any questions/sort out the aircon etc. which was just so great! They were so friendly. There are 4 studios and we were in number 4 on the front, facing the road and directly next to the shop entrance. This meant it was a little noisy at times (when the shop opened early morning and some road noise) but it really wasn't too bad as its such a quiet little street. Our studio was very small and basic, but immaculate. It was cleaned most days and towels changed every couple of days. There were a good selection of basic kitchen utensils/cutlery and kettle, toaster etc. the aircon was fab and was 49euro for the week - well worth it in 38 degree heat! There was a safe too for 10 euro a week. The shower situation wasn't great as it was a hand held hose one rather than a wall mount, and also had no shower curtain or screen! So was a little tricky when trying to wash your hair and not soak the whole bathroom and it's contents! Ha! We just accepted this though and got on with it - when in Greece.... ;) The drains were also very smelly, but again, it's not the first time we've encountered this in Greece! Overall it was fine for what we needed, but I do think the the other studios (esp 1 & 2) prob benefitted from having a quiter position with much more privacy on the balcony. Also, I thought the Stefanos apartments across the road looked a slightly better standard. 

The walk to Valtos beach was about 10/15mins and we preferred the end closest to our accomodation as we found the sand was less pebbly and we also enjoyed the less crowded feel. The beach is beautiful, shingle/coarse sand and lovely calm, clear water. The sunbeds were 5 euro for 2 with umbrella. Our favourite beach bar was Cape North West - really delicious food, fab trendy yet Greek decor and great service. They also had waitress service for their bit of the beach too - the ultimate in laziness!  They did play music in the day, which I actually really enjoyed. It wasn't too loud, just a nice background sound. There are ALOT of posers at this end of the beach though... But I found it quite amusing people watching from behind my sunglasses! Ha! We are a couple in our early 30's, and yes it was a young atmosphere but it certainly wasnt loud and full of idiots drinking. Just a lovely chilled out vibe. There are watersports on the beach too, but they are quite pricey.

Parga Town is about a 30min walk from the studios, up a hill to the castle and then down the pretty stairways through the pretty town. The walk is a little tough in the heat, but certainly manageable and fine to walk back at night too. You can also get a water taxi, which is 2 euro per person each way and they go every half hour from Valtos beach to Parga harbour, last one returning to Valtos at midnight. It's an enjoyable 10min journey and definitely worth trying! Lots of places to chose from to eat, although we avoided the harbour front - Although on the approach it looks pretty and cosmopolitan, I actually found it to be far too touristy and busy. Crammed restaurants with people trying to get you to come in, people selling tourist tat and also a really bad sewerage smell in places. We preferred to eat within the town itself or up near the castle (although AVOiD Kastro 1380 - it looks lovely, but is overpriced and awful). A highlight for us was the bar up at the castle itself - stunning! Amazing views over the harbour and a romantic atmosphere. We enjoyed many delicious cocktails up there in the evening, watching the twinkling lights below :)

So, overall Nikolaou was great basic accommodation and we really loved relaxing in Valtos by day and heading into Parga for the evening. Perfect location to enjoy both.
