We had a great week at this hotel, we arrived very late due to a problem with flights but contacted Maria and she stayed up through the night so we could check in.
Our 2 bedroom apartment had plenty of room and balconies on 3 sides.

We used a few of the restaurants in walking distance and found them all to be very good and reasonably priced.
Always sunbeds available around the lovely pool with a selection of cold drinks and ice-creams available.
It was exactly what we were looking for and would definitely recommend it as a base to explore NW Crete if you don’t fancy the busy touristy resorts.

Great place by the sea; literally hear the waves during the night and enjoy a fabulous sunrise from your balcony.
It is well built and well maintained, has a nice pool, a beautiful garden and free parking.
About 4-5 restaurants, two groceries and a pharmacy within a 5 minutes walk, every 30' bus to Chania or any place in between.

We loved our stay at Ma-Tzi Apartments! The hotel we were supposed to go to turned out to be overbooked, and our lucky star sent us to Maria! 
It might not be the place to go if you are a party-animal, since it's far from large, noisy pubs and busy tourist sites! If you on the other hand are looking for a wonderful sea view, a beautifully located, clean hotel with several nice restaurants close by, this is it! And you can always take a bus/taxi to Platanias or Chania if you feel like a change of scenery.

We stayed at the Matzi for 3 nights in July 19 and loved it. We knew of the hotel from previous visits, though had never stayed and we would definitely return.
The room was beautiful and decorated with olive Wood furniture, we had a top floor sea view which was a bonus.
Maria and her mother were so accommodating and made the stay even better.
Great in every way!
Loved it! 

Small, quiet, nice hotell, lokated at the beach. The owner, Maria made ouer stay as good as posible, always smiling and makinknsure everyting was ok. The room was clean and had two balkonies. The bathroom was rather smal, but clean. The pool area was quiet and nice. 
The beach was also clean. We even godt to ser babyturtles at the beach.

Me and my boyfriend stayed 1 week at Ma-Tzi. The area was very peaceful and the hotel was located by beautiful pebble stone beach. 

The owner Maria and her mother were both so friendly and wonderful, they really made us feel welcomed. We also loved their little dog, Ralou, who enjoyed the hotel guests attention. The hotel was also very nice and clean!

Navigating in Gerani was easy and all the locals were very friendly! Good transport connections to Platanias and Chania. 

If you appreciate peace, this is the place for you. I’m sure I’ll go back to Ma-Tzi again, and I have already recommended it to my family and friends! :)

Just came home from a great holiday at Ma-tzi. It was our first time there. Friendly people and a very clean appartment. A fantastic swimming pool and hearing and smelling the beach 24 hours was amazing. In the area around there are many nice villages. A car with you is preferred. We had a great time! Only 2 small things we missed, an opportunity to eat something in the complex and a comfortable sit area in the appartment. Rest was perfect! A very nice, clean and quiet place. We very enjoyed it.

My best friend and me went here for 1 week ! It was a hotel by the beach and a very friendly staff - mother and daughter. The room was nice with comfy beds. The pool was good and there were always sunbeds :)! They ordered food for us from a good restaurant in Platanias. Would recomand to try this for lunch 😅.. The bathroom is small, but it was okey. The cleaninglady made animals of the towel! Supermarked near by and many restaurants.. All in all I recomend to come here ! I think the hotel is more than 2 stars ! Thank you for having us 😁

The apartment had a lovely view and was clean.The air-con didnt work properly.It is a nice area with the beach on your doorstep.Unfortunately Maria was very rude to my husband and I when we got into the pool after 7.30 which we didnt know.I tried to placate her but she continued with the same tone.This was a shame because it spoilt our stay there considering we met some lovely people in the resturant metres away up the road on the left.We absoluetly loved Crete but wouldnt stay there again.

yesterday we came back from vacation in this hotel.  Some things were great: 1. appearance of the hotel.  2. location.  3. pool area 4. few steps to the sea.  However, there were a few problems: 1. the toilet seats in both toilets were completely worn out.  2. an old kitchen tap that made terrible noises while washing up.  the faucet would not close all the way and water was dripping.  the kitchen cupboard with the sink fouled all over.  3. big smelly rubbish pans set in front of the hotel entrance - they can somehow be nicely covered.  4. dark rooms, poorly lit.  5. The lock on the door to our room (room 22) was tragic.  Maria, when checking in, struggled to open the door herself.  the lock was not repaired for our entire stay.  6.On the last day we had two situations: a) the voucher said that we checked out at 12 o'clock the owner Maria said that she knows it is like that but she cannot change it and this is her hotel and check out is at 11 oclock b) we took two blankets one evening on the beach. one blanket lay on the sand and the other was covered.  After returning, we did not shake the sand blanket thoroughly.  Maria said we have to pay for 3x blankets (12 euros) because they are dirty. It turns out that the blankets and bedspreads are not washed at all, because it costs 4 euros per item. I understand that if the blankets get dirty during use, the guests pay for it?  If the blankets get dirty they get dirty with no visible, such blankets get another guest?  I did not pay the fee for washing the blankets.  Maria was rude and she shouted over the arguments. After contacting the travel agency, I found out that washing the blankets is a service and there is no charge. It was an attempt to extort money.  The tax fee has been paid but I have not received a confirmation that it goes to tax - Maria as a world owner should know that the confirmation also seems to be. Matzi apartaments is an apartment in name only - very bad place.
