Folegandros

Themonies is just the opposite of an impersonal hotel, it feels like coming home with luxury. From the homemade welcome lemonade, the delicious breakfast freshly made and served to our balcony on daily basis-meeting GF dietary requirements-to the top brand toiletries, it's all been given the utmost care and attention. The location is perfect in a quiet area, yet 5min away from the beautiful Chora of Folegandros. We loved the traditional architect, the consistent commitment to sustainability, and thoughtfully decorated and extremely comfortable and clean rooms. The spirit of Folegandros is unique - it is a place to renew yourself. In Themonies you have no option but to slow down and get inspired by the beauty of the island!  Huge thank you to Nikos. We're looking forward to our return. 

Perfect in every way

Pros:
The rooms are nicely designed and simply but attractively appointed.
Edwin and Anthony keep the rooms and property spotless.
Chora town is about a six minute walk and the bus stop is not quite a ten minute walk. 
Breakfast is brought to your room.
Toiletries are a nice Greek brand.

Cons:
The views are of Chora town, not of the dramatic water view off the cliffs of town, and there is a distant water view of the port.
The farm animals outside are either charming or will wake you up early with their crowing and braying.
There is no pool.
Our suite had a two-burner stove but no coffee or tea maker or pots to make use of it. When we asked, the owner’s son brought us a pot which we used to boil water for tea we’d bought.
The reception area looks a little unloved with crooked pictures and fake flowers. Everything feels ten years old.
The cappuccinos at breakfast had maybe a quarter shot of bitter espresso in them. My husband reported the tea was a weak brand too.

Overall, this did not feel like a luxury experience. 



They should drop "Luxury" from the hotel's name

My family and I just stayed at Themonies for three nights while visiting Folegandros.  Mirka and her entire team were simply the perfect hosts.  From our welcome refreshments, to the incredible breakfast (delivered to our suite each morning) to the many wonderful recommendations, our stay was amazing!  The place is luxuriously comfortable and I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to experience Folegandros authentically but luxuriously!  Amazing!

Themonies is the perfect place to stay in Folegandros!

Very comfortable and relaxing environment. Excellent service with welcoming and  friendly hosts. Unique apartments based on the traditional island farm architecture but with full modern furnishings and amenities - exquisite. The ideal place to get away and regenerate.

A fantastic holiday venue with exceptional service

Two couples traveled to Folegandros for two nights. Stayed at this incredible location both nights. A husband and wife own and run the place. The husband picked us up from the port and the wife greeted us at the door once we arrived with sour cherry soda and fresh baked cookies. We visited with the owners for 30 minutes before ever going to our rooms. 

The rooms were incredibly quaint and quite luxurious. We had a large selection of items available for order for breakfast each morning. The owners delivered breakfast to our rooms with each plate uniquely crafted with an elegant touch. The handmade lemonade was an addicting afternoon refreshment. The location offered a 5 minute walk down to the village of Chora. If traveling to the Greek islands, be sure to stay at Themonies. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll meet a beautiful couple that will forever have a positive impact. 

Best Place and People in Folegandros

The island is gorgeous and this place made the experience even more memorable. The boutique suite has gorgeous views of the Chora; amazing and sweet staff; and it's a great place to relax. Whether it is having wine by the balcony or eating breakfast at the terrace, the breeze of the island and genuine characteristic of the people makes this place a must. 

They help you arrange everything. We would have stayed much longer.

One of the best experiences

One of the most amazing hotels I have visited. It’s a hotel with history in for Megan Rose. The history of the island is reincarnated.
My suite used to be the place where the donkey and the sheep rest and it was called "The Shepherds Themonia", as it was the first they ever renovated. Totally refurbished, without being altered, since the stones and wood where the protagonists at the walls. Minimalism was a key concept. Plus, the architect and the interior designers acted with great respect to the environment, without intervening if that was not necessary. If you were to look at the whole building from afar, you could not tell if it was a building or a natural stone hill ... loved the whole thing! 

Top Notch Environment 

Themonies (named after the farms traditional of the island) and Mirka (oh please tell me I spelled your name correctly) were so warm and accommodating! On a map, it seems like its a bit far from Chora, but it is seriously a 5 minute walk so it wasn't a bother in the least. And we honestly enjoyed that we weren't in the center of all the tourist activity - as Folegandros iteself was a bit more touristic than we had expected. Our view was the town of Chora and the monastery from our balcony - it was lovely. The rooms are so spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed. While you will pay a premium for this hotel, if you can swing it, it is worth it. It didn't really bother us that there wasn't a pool as we were at the beach everyday anyway. There was only one long, exhausting day we sort of wished for one, but instead had a lovely nap with the windows open. Mirka was so helpful with booking all of our reservations for us and telling us which beaches to go to and how. Her advice was invaluable - especially when it came to eating out. She also allowed us a late check out and supplied us with umbrellas for the beach every day, free of charge. The breakfast were lovely and very large! I'd recommend this place.

Lovely Themonies

A very good place to stay in the incredible island of Folegandros. Just a five minute walk from downtown Chora, the place to go once the sun starts to set.
The hotel has everything you need in a very peaceful setting, good accomodation and excellent service.

Very good experience

Excellent place to stay. Very close to Chora - 5 minutes walk. The rooms are exquisite. If I had a vacation house, this is better than what I would have dreamed. Although the room we stayed does not have a very good view, it still is the best place you can stay in Folegandros. The quality of the mattress and the bed makes sure you will sleep very very well. The breakfast is something else. You can order it on the previous day and they bring it to you in your room - coffee, fresh orange juice, fruit, omelets, yogurt with honey etc - everything fresh and tasty. If you go to Folegandros (and you can afford it), this is the place to stay.  Don't get me wrong. It is worth every penny.
