This place is not at all as represented in photos or words. Depressing, dowdy, awful place with practically no facilities. Don't stay here. We were fooled by the photos but checked out within a few hours of checking in! It was worth losing a big chunk of our pre-payment just to get out of there. We moved to the wonderful Chora Resort instead and actually paid less to get a way better room in a much better resort in  a quiet in-town location. Be warned: the description of the Miramare does not make it clear that this is a somewhat isolated property down (and back up) an extremely steep road across from the actual town of Chora, with no facilities aside from a bar and front desk. The furnishings are basic and without charm. There is no restaurant or food service; they told me that in order get something to eat they had to order food to be delivered to the Miramare from a restaurant in Chora. Folegandros is a small island and Chora itself is a sweet and tiny town - you definitely want to stay in the actual town of Chora instead.  

Don't be fooled by the photos. Stay somewhere else.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel.  The reception was really unwelcome and arrogant even before we arrived at the place. I was trying to contact them a month before as I was having a few queries and the numerous calls were not even returned. Upon our arrival, we were surprised by how steep the location was which compelled us to rent a car and that was an extra cost that we were not aware of. The manager had an unacceptable and conceited attitude. There was not even the slightest hint how inaccessible by foot the hotel was. The towels were not clean enough; the door of the bathroom was defective; and the wifi connection was very poor. Certainly NOT value for money. 180 euros per night could not ever be a reasonable for such an accommodation and service. Strongly do NOT recommend!

Bad experience

It was one of the few choices available that we could find and it prooved to be a vry good one. The location is very good, close to Chora but not in the Chora, with a beautiful view to the Aegean Sea and the Cycladic Island and Chora. Only the pillar for the power lines just in fornt of the are was annoying. The hotel is facing the north wind and this might be an issue when the very common wind meltemi is blowing. We were lucky to have very good weather, The superior room was spacious with a simple - light decorarion and a comfy bed. The bathroom was large and everythin was functioning ok.  The hosts were very helpful and provided tips and assistance in whatever we needed, Breakfast is not included in the price of the room but the few thing that you can order in the hotel's cafe were very good (yogurt with honery and fruits, toast with jam, toast, cafe etc). The pool was nice and we used  it some times. Folegandros is a very nice small island, with a beautiful chora (main village) and not many but very nice beaches. Prices in restaurants, transports, bars etc are rather high.  It was our first visit and  we had a very nice time.

Overall a great stay!

Visiting Miramare this summer was an excellent experience! The location is superb, very close to the main city (walking distance) and the rooms have probably one of the best views in the island! The rooms themselves are roomy and clean, while the hotel had all the amenities we could ever desire. Best of all was the management of the hotel and the service we enjoyed! Always happy to help, with recommendations or with late check out, as well as the ability to come back to the hotel and use the showers and the pool long after we had checked out as out ferry was late in the evening. Overall a terrific experience which we would recommend and we would gladly relive in the future!

Superb experience!! Great staff!!!

The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable - from flexibilty for modifying the pre-booked days, to offering free transfer to the main port at our convenience and helping us with the car rental. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Folegandros.

Fabulous hotel and service provided

The hotel has the best view of the church on the hill and the Chora (village). Rooms are very clean, large and with big balconies to enjoy your coffee in the morning or a beer in the evening with unique view. The pool is actually good sized for a refreshing swim and drinks are served on the big terrace. They took all covid-19 precautions very seriously and we felt safe throughout our 9 nights stay. Will be back to this dreamy island and this nice hotel. But we will rent some scooters or something, to skip the walk up to the hotel after a large greek dinner;-)

Miramare Folegandros 

We stayed here for 3 nights during our island hopping trip, and had a lovely stay.  We were picked up from the port which was much appreciated, and when we arrived at the hotel we were so glad we chose it as the views are absolutely stunning.  Our room was clean and quiet, right by the pool, which was never busy.  Breakfast was huge (traditional Greek yoghurt, toast, eggs, cake) and it was only a few minutes walk into Chora which is packed full of great restaurants. As mentioned in other reviews, the road up to the hotel is steep, but don’t be put off by it as it only takes about a minute to climb then you’re rewarded by the amazing views.  Staff were friendly and helpful, recommending walking routes and helping all the guests when strong wind meant most of the ferries were cancelled.  We’d definitely come back.

Second.time now we've stayed this hotel, its very nicely managed, and has a relaxed atmosphere, just set back from Chora, beautiful pool and cracking views. Rooms are airy and bed is very comfy, views of infinity sea and sky.

We have stayed in Miramare a couple of times over the past four years. We have always been very satisfied with our tenure. the hotel is situated on a hill, half a kilometer outside the city center. it is not recommended if you do not have a vehicle for your transportation, as climbing up there is like a mini-marathon. However, if you do own one then you can enjoy your stay. The room embraces a swimming pool, which since there are only a handful of rooms it has never crowed. the view is spectacular, literally breathtaking. My favorite thing was to wake up and have breakfast on our private balcony. the service is great and flexible. Highly recommended.
