Bel Mare

Location, location...the hotel is above the Kakolimano beach, about 1 km from the wonderfully serene fishing town of Agii Apostoli. We spent 3 nights/days in this hotel, and several more in the town, and in all this time saw just a few non-Greek license plates...if you're looking to experience Greece and live like a Greek, this is the place to be. Can't say enough about the hospitality and kindness that Sophia showed us, as well as her daughter. My wife wanted to surprise me for my B-day, and being that they didn't have cake at the restaurant, they actually went to the village and bought me a cake, a got me a candle, as well, plus Sophia sang me the B-day song in Greek ! That was really nice, and it was a great choice of cakes, chocolate. Dinner was delish, as well, Efharisto, Sophia. Our room, and huge balcony overlooked the beach, great for swimming & snorkeling, which we love, and is surrounded by pine trees for a natural respite from the sun. You might want to arrive early (by 10:30-11 am), though, as these spots get taken up, but you'll always find a spot, as everyone is very laid back and easy going. Plus, at the Kakolimano beach bar you can eat and drink, the pices being very reasonable and in line with prices in the village. If you're looking for R&R, you won't be disappointed with Bel Mare, it is a pure 10! Word of caution, though. Make sure that you map out the hotel location in your GPS device, as it is a bit hard to find, or you'll end up asking a fisherman, as we did, in the village harbor for directions, and his English being as limited as our Greek is he actually sat in his car and we followed him to the hotel!
