371 reviewsWe had a lovely lunch at the rooftop café at Hotel Byron during our visit to Athens. It’s a quiet spot tucked away just below the Acropolis, with fantastic views over the city and the Parthenon – a real bonus while you eat. The food was simple, traditional Greek fare – well-cooked and full of flavour. Nothing fancy or overdone, just proper local dishes made with care. We had gyros, stuffed vine leaves, Greek salad, local cheese and honey , olive – all very enjoyable. The kids had toasties. Prices were very reasonable, especially for a location like this. Service was friendly and relaxed. The staff were welcoming and helpful, without being overbearing. It had the feel of a place where you could happily take your time and enjoy a slower pace. It’s not flashy or over-polished, but that’s part of the charm. If you’re looking for a laid-back meal in a great setting, away from the hustle of the main tourist spots, this is well worth a visit. We’ll happily return next time we’re in Athens.
