The spot is a bit hard to access, an hour away from Accra city centre. Offers nice spacious rooms and fantastic views, plus more than decent food and drinks. Highly recommend if you're on a budget and looking for a timeout at the sea, still just a cheap Uber away from Accra and airport.

This hotel is simply lovely.  Beautiful location and marvelous staff who are competent and willing to go the extra difference to make your stay perfect.  Easy walking distance to the fun market area.   Unfortunately, the beach is not pristine - too much waste and debris ...

Rooms are spacious and well appointed.  The gardens are lovely and well maintained.   There is even a nice tennis court on the grounds.  Meals and bar are excellent.

The hotel is located very close to Ministries in Accra and has a very good location, if you work with e.g. Ministry of Local Government and Ministry of Finance. It is also very close to Osu, the main area for dining and nightlife. The breakfast is very good and included in the price. The service is very good and friendly. The tennis court is good, but the fencing is not good. However, it is walking distance from Accra Lawn Tennis Club. There is no room service, but the restaurant will bring food to your room, if you order in advance. I always stay there, when I am in Accra.

What a great place to get out of Accra whne in Accra. Wonderful staff aiming to please, hands on owner and good food served both local and western. Beach front, tranquil and Accra city at your doorstep. Rooms a little dated, but foe price cant find much better value for money.

Nice and very friendly hotel in Accra

At the end of a dusty, dirt road, this small hotel on a beach welcomes you with its friendly, efficient staff and has clean, tile floored, basic rooms.  Mini-refrigerator, fully functioning bathroom with shower, towels, hot water (you must have the bathroom light switch on), large beds, strong air conditioning and bedside reading lamps along with an over head light.  Wifi works in the public spaces, not in the rooms, or at least not in every room particularly those farther away from the main building. 

The breakfast buffet was ample - potatoes, tomatoes, baked beans, granola, yogurt, coffee (Nescafe as is the custom), muffins some days, pancakes some days, etc. and orders for eggs were taken each morning.  Tasty, freshly prepared food.

The lunch/dinner menu did not change but depending on the chef/cook, it might have a new accompaniment when you ordered the same dish from one day to the next.  The Talapia was especially well seasoned, the egg and tomato omelet very good and I am told the hamburgers were tasty too.

I would give the rooms a good rating for cleanliness and space and the basics;and, the restaurant and dining room a very nice rating as the space is open air and meals consistently good.  The staff are very responsive and always friendly and customer service oriented.

The structures have a local feel and it is easy to spend time on the covered terrace of the restaurant where the cool breezes, gentle, sultry air and the proximity to the Atlantic make it a pleasant work or relaxation area.

The thunderous crashing of the waves on the beach in front of the hotel is a constant backdrop that adds to the ambience, giving it a bit of a wild edge.  There is a gate to the beach and a 24 hour security watch.  It is not a beach you would ever swim on as the current is too strong, nor would it be appealing to "go to the beach" to relax and sunbathe.  It is an adventure to walk on it and be amongst the pick up soccer games and occasional runners.  A walk is an opportunity to observe local culture, but not for the beach itself.

Friendly, Comfortable, Well Maintained Grounds, Ocean Breezes

Arriving from London we were so disappointed with our experience of this hotel. We arrived late and just wanted to go to bed. The room was very poor standard. The bathroom had little water just dribbling from tap and shower, toilet. Tiles off the walls cracked and broken. Taps came away from sink and shower you could only use by hand. AC didn't work and neither di the TV. Reported in the morning and we were advised after breakfast we would be moved and upgraded to an ocean view. We checked the room and the AC worked the Tv we thought worked but was only able to get 1 station which just repeated advertising for programmes. The bathroom was not much better but water came out of taps to start with. Again tiles off walls and shower had to be held by hand. We complained again and the receptionist said she would send someone to check. Our last night was no better and when we complained re lack of water we were advised this was normal? Our last morning we walked round the grounds and they were also in a poor state of repair tennis court fencing was broken and court was a poor standard. The surrounding buildings was in disrepair and the 'beach' was disgusting with rubbish everywhere and also next to a rubbish dump! We only had breakfast and this was not enticing as laid out with cling film over everything the eggs were cooked to order and ok. We complained again to the owner and this was not a cheap hotel by London standards no recompense was offered. We stayed at 5 other hotels in Ghana and none were to the poor standard of the Afia.
