Nana Bema Hotel

The hotel lies on a hill with view over the city. it is around 20 minutes to the city center, 30 minutes to cape coast castle. The very steep road to the hotel is rough and unpaved and may be slippery when wet.

Rooms are ok and clean and seem to be safe. The staff is very helpful although the service speed is - as nearly everywhere in Ghana - Ganaian style (;-)). Breakfast is provided on an open but roofed terrace outside the building, drinks and beer (Guiness brewed in Africa!) in the evenings on demand. WiFi is provided with an small moveable repeater you can take with you in the compound.

Altogether a nice stay although a litte bit outside the city center....

Overall, I’d say it’s a good place that is beautifully situated high on a hill so you get a wonderful view of the town and sunset. 
Pros:
-----CHEAP!! For a twin room (two twin beds), 2 night stay = $50 (yes, for both nights)
-----Lovely staff. A young boy of about 14 named Emmanuel attended to us. He was so cute ☺ The other staff members were two sisters (I think) who were very kind and attentive as well.
-----Breakfast made every morning (toast, omelet, coffee, tea, juice)
-----The dining area is right outside so you can enjoy the lovely view. 
-----Close to town; seemed like the taxi drivers all new its location & name
-----The room was very spacious (we were on the first floor). The room includes TV, a small fridge, wireless internet, hot water, and AC!!!!
-----The wireless (a portable hotspot) was VERY fast. The AC cooled the room wonderfully. 
CONS:
----- The facade could use a lot of work. Not an attractive place on the outside. 
-----Power goes out…for a while. So depending on how much you’re in the room you could be stuck without internet and AC. This is why I said I wouldn’t spend more 2-3 nights there
-----The TV and fridge in our room didn’t work.
-----They didn’t come in to the clean the room. We assumed they would but didn’t bother to request it since we were only staying a couple days. Bear in mind it’s pretty dusty so you’re gonna track that into your room.

Reasonable Hotel in Cape Coast

Pretty decent overall for a short stay

Stayed here one night while in Cape Coast. I believe we were the only ones in the hotel at the time. The building was clean and had ceiling fans. AC units were available for an extra charge, but we didn't use them. I'm not sure if there was hot water available for showers. It looked like perhaps you could turn certain knobs, but I couldn't figure out and just took a cold shower, which is pretty standard for my experience in Ghana. The room cleanliness was ok. A dead cockroach was under the bed (better than live cockroaches though), and we had to request for the sheets to be changed when we arrived as they had small black stains. The TV was not working, and they advertised free wifi which was a vodafone hotspot. However, we never received it. Breakfast was included and was the standard eggs, toast, beans, sausage (hot dog), juice and tea. The hotel is located on top of a very steep hill and walking up and down is no easy feat. Even driving up the hill challenged some of the taxis and that's probably the main disadvantage of the place. Otherwise it was located in a convenient area. After walking about 10 minutes down the hill you were on a main street. However, being on top of the hill made for stunning views of the city and ocean. The power went out once during our stay and and it didn't appear to be a city wide outage. However, the power was back on within 30 minutes.

Well in Africa you cannot expect more from 1 star hotel. Firstly I tought that i wont be able to sleep there, because of the spider on the floor, but for second sight, I noticed that the room is well cleaned and bed sheets are clean too. AC and fan was working, TV also, wifi also. Bathroom seems dirty but only because of old tiles, it was clean after all. For breakfast we had eggs with beans and sausage, plus bread with butter and strawberry jam. For drinks we had a freshly made orange juice (delicious and cold!) and also coffee or tee. The ladies are taking a good care about this place, but still this is Africa :-)

Firstly terrifyingbut for second sight good

The warmth of friendliness, the beauty of fantastic customer service would erode the demerits of this hotel while you stay there. Managed by an exceptional young lady who's on duty 24/7, and leads the team by example. Adjoa Ivy Anan made my wife and myself extra happy by bending double to satisfy us throughout our stay. Ivy obviously makes greatness out of nothing in that hotel.
