The only thing good about this place is the location. It is set in a beautiful place. However, the food & service is awful. We ordered the wings, tilapia and margarita pizza. The food is not fresh & the pizza was the worst I have ever had. So disappointing. The waiter we had barely smiled and was not friendly in the slightest. If you pay for the pool, they charge 90cedis and you can only use 1 towel. 

Very disappointing experience

My dad checked into Hillbury for the weekend a couple of weeks ago. 

He wanted a quiet and serene place to relax and reflect as a treat to himself for his 80 birthday, and boy did he get a treat!!  

He had such a wonderful time and the staff were apparently very attentive throughout his stay!!

We (the rest of the family) joined him for lunch on his actual birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed it! 

The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was just what the doctor ordered and Eric was just the perfect waiter for us!!
We even got complementary wine!!! It was a really good day!!

Thank you Hillbury for making such an important occasion so memorable to all of us!

My dad’s 80th Birthday

The Hillburi hotel is of the fine hotels on the Akwapim Ridge and has since grown into becoming one of the finest hotels in the region. At such a prime location, it is impossible to miss it when using that stretch. 

Like most hotels, hillburi hotel has an in-house restaurant that serves both in-house guests and day visitors. The only difference is the opening and closing times for their respective guests

The restaurant has a warm and inviting ambience. You get chills as you walk in due to the weather on the mountain. They have just outdoor seating areas, which is good for guests to enjoy the view as they enjoy their food. That is, you either sit under their summer hat or their umbrella shade with picnic seats overlooking the swimming pool. The seats are sufficient and there are natural lights, that is the sun.

HILLBURI HOTEL,LUNCH ON A HILL IN ABURI

First time at hillburi and we had a great memorable experience. Shout out to the whole team and a special thanks to Eric for taking good care of us. Eric our waiter was very attentive to our food order. Food, environnement and atmosphere was amazing although one of our food order delayed but everything was perfectly on point. We will surely come.

Holiday well spent

There are days in every week when the Head of Kitchen in every home deserves a rest. The Pavillion Restaurant at Hillburi is one of our next best kitchens. They serve what we call "clean food". Today's starter of grilled squid accompanied by a wedge of lemon and garlic bread hit the right sport. He had grilled lamb in a cashew sauce accompanied by wok rice ( very tasty stir fried rice with vegetables). I had grilled tilapia accompanied by steamed crunchy vegetables. Shito and "pepper" (crushed onion, garlic, tomatoe and hot chillies) were the perfect condiments. I took ownership of the coleslaw. 

It is very unusual to announce even before eating that the "meal today is fabulous". We loved it.

A Personal Kitchen Worth Every Pesewa

First time being at Hillburi was for my birthday in October 2021 after seeing lots of beautiful pictures on Instagram of those that have visited previously but on getting there I was totally disappointed, they almost ruined my birthday I had to leave. Mind you before I decided to go there for my birthday celebration, I had sent series of messages to them on Instagram, even called to make inquiries but no one picked up the calls for days. But I decided to take the risk after reading some information about swimming and other things on their website. On getting there the attendant told my friends adn I that we couldn’t swim except we’re lodging, the Information on their website says anyone could swim for a fee of Gh70, another thing was the place was so dead quiet, no music at all and all they had was local Ghanaian dishes which is good by the way except that wasn’t our preference for the day. My friends and I couldn’t stay there because it didn’t look like fun at all so we left.

My second visit to Hillburi was on Friday the 21st of January 2022, I had taken some friends there who was in Ghana for the first time but again they messed up the day, the attendant said we couldn’t go in except we get a food coupon of Gh50 each, whether we eat or not that was more like the entrance fee so once again we left for Peduase resort in the same Aburi, a much better place I must add. So if you’re not ready for bs don’t go to Hillburi, I don’t recommend it at all. It’s been a total waste of my precious time, both times I have visited. I’ll be sharing pictures of both trips

Terrible experience at hillburi resort

This was my fourth stay, but my first since the pandemic...I stayed at the Hllburi almost 6 weeks this time....you could not pay me to stay elsewhere while in Ghana. The staff is as  welcoming, and accommodating today, as it was 3 years ago. The attention to detail in this stunning mountain resort is amazing. The grounds keepers kept the area manicured, and apologized to me for the noise (lol), Thanks to the best staff ever...Daniel, Isaac, Eric,Sandra,Henry,George,Jerry,Maya,Esther, just to name a few . The owners were a joy..genuine, and attentive. Cant wait to return!

My fourth stay, and it just keeps gettng better

Stayed over a month ago and only now can I bring myself to write a review! It is the most disappointing stay ever and I've traveled extensively.

 Considering I paid $150 a night in GHANA, If you are going to charge western prices your service has to reflect this! I stayed in a basic hotel in New York (the best western) early last year not only did they have better rooms but their service was also 1000% better! 

  Hillburi service was terrible... staff were totally disengaged from my very arrival. When I  arrived the security didn’t help with luggage even though I was clearly struggling with a child and our case. The receptionists literally ignore me. The room was ok but once you look deeper a deep clean wouldn’t go a miss - the duvet and sheets had stains. The food was below par. I paid for bed and breakfast but that turned out to be a con.! The actual breakfast that is included in the stay is beyond basic and you will have to pay extra to get the better option.

To top of a very underwhelming experience, I got assaulted by a taxi driver while the hotel security looked on, the same security person who didn't help with my suitcase, even though that's one of their jobs. 
 I’m not sure what kind of security they employ but certainly, one that doesn’t come to an aid of a single mother and her child. 

I realise that there are few options of hotels in Aburi at the moment so Hillburi can have such a poor level of service and get away with this but the area is certainly developing so hopefully more and better options coming!
 

There's a general lack of care which is evident from every touchpoint. I spoke to a few others staying at the hotel and we all voiced similar disappointment. 

Anyway, to end on a positive note, the views are outstanding but I would suggest staying in another hotel.

OVER PRIZED, BAD SERVICE, ROOMS SEEN BETTER DAYS!

This place is just sooo beautifully designed and constructed truly a hidden gem of resort in Aburi. The staff is also excellent and the food is great. Purely a masterpiece. Kudos! The rooms are carefully crafted and have all the necessary must haves.

Amazing 🤩 and beautiful

I’ve been to Hillburi on my previous visit to Ghana and loved it then; three years later and I’m still impressed. The food is delicious and served in a timely fashion by respectful and pleasant staff. 

The location is beautiful. You are met with a stunning vista; Accra, off in the distance is breathtaking (especially at night); the gardens are well maintained and make great use of the local flora. 

On my most recent visit I had the pleasure of being welcomed (served) by the supervisor, Millicent, who is a true asset to Hillburi. All staff have been polite, helpful and welcoming, by the way. Millicent went above and beyond to ensure that my party were well catered to. I truly felt the spirit of ‘Akwaaba’ and this is now my favourite spot in Ghana! A smile and simple human kindness can go a long way, especially in the service industry; thank you Millicent for doing your job so well.
