This hotel surpassed my expectations because most times my experience at most hotels are usually below range with what I see ( pictures) on sites but this hotel is excrptional. It has a four star standard even though its not well known in the city. The breakfast was a little late for early check out customers and the management needs to revisit the location description as getting to the hotel wit a taxi is usually hell as most taxi guys dont know the address specified. It's actually North Dzorwulu and not South Legon as specified by the hotel sites.

I am so glad I discovered Gibbs (after 14 years in Accra)! It is located off the Motorway Extension in Accra in North Dzorwulu. I found Gibbs by accident and I am pleased to say that the accommodation is basic but clean and minimal. Precisely as I like a lodging to be. All the staff, from the housekeeping boys, kitchen staff, reception staff and senior management are 'real' people who go to great lengths to please. My few days here have been calm and peaceful, given I need to be close to the motorway and have access to Kotoka airport and the city. Special mention go to Naomi, Fred, Solomon and Ebeneezer, in fact all the staff. Facilities are good. The split commercial area from the dormitory area merge well, but the large parking area, exceptionally clean Executive Room plus all the elements of the shower room are all in good order. Built by a grant (and expertise) from the People's Republic of China there are hallmarks of chinese equipment everywhere. I am extremely happy with my stay and would encourage other 'down to earth' lodgers, whether staying for business or pleasure to try a stay Gibbs. It is simple but excellent value for money. I shall return again and again.

Unusual lodging, excellent location, helpful & friendly staff!

just returned from a stay at the Gibs with my group, I must say it was a disappointing experience. Food was very mediocre and the Manager- rooms division seems to be all over the place but doing anything. Need a place to sleep and short distance to the Accra Mall, then try them but please eat out.

Needs to improve great,y

When I returned to Gib's Guestlodge two months after my last stay I was very satisfied to see some major improvements. I was greeted with much enthusiasm by the staff and quickly escorted to my room. My suite was almost identical to the room I enjoyed previously- queen size bed, flat screen television, wardrobe, desk, balcony, air conditioner and decent size bathroom.The wifi had finally been installed and was working very efficiently. I was a little taken aback at first because there was a general water outage in the area and couldn't shower the first day that I was there. But the staff was very competent about bringing me buckets of water to shower and bottles of water to brush my teeth until the water returned the following day. The hotel is still lacking room phones which interrupted communication with the front desk. However, the staff was very good about checking in on me every so often to see if I needed anything. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay and would especially recommend it for people who enjoy their privacy.

Great Improvements!

The hotel is conveniently located in Achimota, off of the George Bush motorway. Only a seven minute taxi ride from the Accra mall, Gib’s Guest Lodge opened on April 9th, 2014. The hotel is divided into three blocks. Block A is the hostel section, which has dormitory-style rooms and two bathrooms/showers and a kitchen at the end of each hallway. Block B contains the suite rooms, while Block C, which is still undergoing renovation, is a combination of both dormitory rooms and suites. The establishment also has an open courtyard which is intended for outdoor ceremonies, two event halls, and a restaurant. Upon my arrival, around 10pm, the clerk at the reception desk was anxiously awaiting my presence. I was received by the staff with the utmost amiable attitude. The staff was kind enough to bring out an umbrella and helped me retrieve my belongings from the car while it was raining. I was escorted to my room, which had a queen size bed, a flat screen television, wardrobe, desk, balcony, air conditioner and a decent sized bathroom with warm running water. Because it was late, the restaurant was closed. However, upon request, the staff opened the bar and allowed me to mingle in the bar/conference room area well past midnight. The bar was adequately stocked and the staff even graciously offered to run to the market and buy me anything that they did not already have. Once I was finished, I returned to my room, and enjoyed a sound sleep. The reception office was very flexible about the check-out hour and allowed me to stay in the room until the evening. 
Although the hotel is still undergoing some renovations that are expected to be completed by July 2014, I could see some issues that required improvement. For example, the hotel is lacking room phones and landlines making it difficult to communicate with the front desk and requiring me to use my personal phone to call the reception desk whenever I needed something. Also, the restaurant was closed during the day and did not have a set hour of operation schedule. Instead of waking up to a complimentary breakfast, I had to leave the hostel and find food on my own. Although the staff was gracious enough to offer me delivery service from a local restaurant, they did not have menus readily available, thus, making it confusing to place any type of order. I finally decided to leave the premises and search for food, although the staff kindly called a taxi for me and came to my room when the driver arrived. These are details that, if not improved, can cause massive setbacks in the service and satisfaction of costumers. These are the type of issues that separate a mediocre lodging establishment from a respectable and well-established 5-star hotel. I definitely commend the owner for hiring such friendly and attentive staff and I appreciate the effort they put forth in order to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
