Weinsberg is a small town in south-eastern Germany, near Heilbronn and not far from Heidelberg. This beautiful town is home to the oldest wine school in Europe, is surrounded by vineyards, has original Roman bath ruins, has numerous restaurants and very friendly people. I can’ say enough good about the Burghotel in Weinsberg, Germany. The hotel itself is right in the center to town and less than half a block walk to all the restaurants, and about a block away from the wine school. It is easily reached by car or tram and a short walk from Heilbronn. The hotel is very clean with nice, bright, comfortable rooms and a “snack” room, equipped with mineral water, beer, wine and snacks available at all times. The atmosphere is super – a small hotel equipped with many antiques and a warm atmosphere. Breakfast is fantastic, traditional German with meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, fruit, bread/toast, jams, coffee, tea, juice, etc. But the real keys to the Burghotel are owners Norbert and Ruth-Elizabeth. If you are lucky, Norbert will play a little classical music while you have breakfast. He is very skilled and has four pianos and a harpsichord. Ruth-Elizabeth is the finest hostess in Europe! She is very welcoming, attentive and made us feel like family. She greeted us on arrival, made sure we were comfortable, pointed us in the right direction for dinner – and even told us the best and most reasonably priced items on the menus! The next day she and Norbert were most helpful in many ways and made our visit to Weinsberg most pleasurable. This is the finest experience we have had staying anywhere and plan to return.
