Landgasthof Rebstock Weil am Rhein / Basel

Our drive from Rome took us a bit longer than we expected, so we were in need of an hotel when we crossed the border at Basel, Switzerland. The navigation actually decided for us, because the Rebstock was the closest Gasthaus. The moment we walked in through the restaurant, we noticed it was packed. With some tredipation we asked for a room and we weren't disappointed. Without any pre amble, the lady behind the counter noticed our exhausted fases and was all business. She handed us the key, gave two vouchers for the wifi, asked if we needed diner too and told us how to get to the room. We were on the first floor, in a hall way with five rooms. There have to be other rooms too one floor up. Diner was really very good. The menu was traditional German, with a Swiss touch. We loved it, but were too tired to really enjoy the great food. The beds were comfy, the minibar was filled, pricelist was beside it. We made several trips to Rome and wished we had found this hotel sooner. It was a treat. The breakfast was truly extensive. Freshly baked bread, several jams, cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, yoghurt, eggs. Parking was free on the hotel grounds.
