Feilen-Wolff

We are lucky enough to visit Trier a couple of times a year, and having supper at the Hotel Fielen Wolff has become something of a tradition. The drawcard for us is the excellent food, both their German offerings and the extensive range of Balkan specialities. The quality of the meat is excellent, the portions are generous and the prices are significantly lower than you'll pay in the city centre. Service is also efficient and friendly, and the restaurant is charming in an old fashioned way. Parking is also less of an issue than it is in the city itself. Both kids and husband swear that you can't go wrong with their schnitzel and seldom deviate from this crowd pleasing option. I usually take the opportunity to try something unfamiliar from the Balkan menu - yesterday was a Schaeferspies (portions of turkey, beef and pork covered in a mix of feta cheese and spices before being grilled on a skewer) served with potato croquettes. And - as usual - it was absolutely delicious. The restuarant and hotel are also dog friendly, and will happily welcome well behaved four legged members of the family.
