Landhotel Alphorn

While visiting relatives, I always made a point to drive off the "Landstrasse" and negotiate my way to Landhotel Alphorn in Ofterschwang. After a pleasant meal, I enjoyed walking the paths and enjoying the especially incredible views of the Alps. The enjoyment of catching one of the owners practicing the traditional "Alphorn" musical instrument made me vow to return with my husband and sons. This past Christmas vacation in Germany, we had that opportunity. Our entire family trekked to Landhotel Alphorn on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. I enjoyed one of my best meals ever- a pork filet wrapped in bacon with a topping of melted Camembert, lingonberries,and horseradish. The sweet offset the sharpness of the horseradish, making for a sublime eating experience. We arranged to sit outside, sipping our Gluehweins while being entertained with Christmas songs played by the Alphorn musical group. The food, the traditional music, the panorama of the Alps in front of us made for an unforgettable family experience. After touring the hotel rooms on this recent visit, I know I will be reserving a few nights here during my next visit to Germany.
