Zur Rennbahn

This hotel is tucked away down a side track alongside the River Elbe and adjacent to two separate campgrounds. At first glance it looks perhaps a little like a set of campground cabins with basic amenities, but on closer inspection you can see that the public areas are furnished in a very traditional German country hotel fashion. The owner / proprietor was very friendly and she spoke excellent English. She even served us dinner in the restaurant, which was very tasty and excellent value. The room was large and very clean. There was even the traditional touch of a mint on the pillow of each bed! The bathroom was clean and very large, if a little dated in style, and the folding shower screen was a little awkward to use. On the first morning there I realised that there were no towels, but later that afternoon when the room had been cleaned, I noted that a generous supply of clean white towels was provided. Very smooth arrival and departure process, really good value and a comfortable night's sleep followed by an excellent and generous breakfast (bread rolls, egg, coffee, cheese, cold meats, juice) - I don't know what else one would need.
