Schloss Rattey

I was looking for a place to stay the night before entering northern Poland from Germany. Not far from the highway around 70 km from the border I found a four star hotel listed as a "Schloss" hotel. At the price of around 80 euro including breakfast it seemed like a very interesting opportunity. The hotel is located around 6 km from the highway exit, the route will lead you thru a small village before arriving in the small village where the hotel is located. The entrance to the hotel is clearly marked and includes a small alley with trees and parking area surrounded by trees. Once outside the hotel there is only little indication of this being a hotel and restaurant in fact it seems more like a private building where a wealthy family would live with their servants. A small sign on the door gives you instructions on what to do in case you arrive after hours. Once inside you find the hotel reception in the restaurant bar. The staff is very welcoming and very helpful and you are treated more as an invited guest than a customer. After a quick check in process I was followed to my room on the first floor. The double doors indicated that the "Schloss" part also included the rooms and not only the surroundings. A spacious room with sitting area, a large cabinet, two big windows overlooking the park a desk and of course a bed welcomed me. The bathroom was also very spacious and had been restored with great respect for the castle .entertainment was provided by the B&O television with a range of local stations. Breakfast is served as a buffet with a decent number of options and can be enjoyed indoor overlooking the garden or outdoor at the patio.I wouldn't bother to pay the money needed to get the internet access, its pretty bad, but so is the mobile connection, so its one or the other. I will be back
