Very good
33 reviewsThis hotel looks nothing like the photo on the website where I booked it. It is not the large, imposing white chateau type of hotel among the trees pictured in the listing, it is just a flat storefront along the walkway with the other buildings. There is no elevator, just flights of stairs to climb to the rooms. But the room we booked was large with a balcony and a great view of the Rhine River and a castle just across the road. We had an unsecured parking space across the road. He said parking was free. A nice breakfast buffet comes with the room and is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. We had a large comfortable bed, two twins pushed together, a small table and two chairs, a large wardrobe and a desk and flat screen TV. It was a nice bathroom, somewhat dated, with the tiniest shower we’ve encountered in three weeks of hotels. It was difficult to get through the tiny opening and we could not even move in it. But at least it wasn’t one of those tall modern glass door tubs we’ve been encountering that you need a ladder to get into and out of. Particularly bad for Seniors who seem to be the majority of people traveling off season. And despite what this hotel advertises and what the man who checked us in told us, there is NO WiFi in the room. He said it was throughout the whole building and there was no sign-on necessary. No sign on because no WiFi. I hate to be deceived like that. It’s off season and the room was not inexpensive, so I would expect to have good working WiFi. The second day we asked about it. The lady cleaning rooms pointed to the WiFi above the door in our hallway and said, “See, it’s working.” We got in our room, no WiFi. After we were checked in, we were given a key to the front door, the guy left and never came back that day. So if you need anything, you are on your own. We were not comfortable with the situation. There are lots of hotels along the river. Maybe you can find one with working WiFi, a bigger, better shower, and someone who will be at the hotel 24/7.
