If you are looking to stay in an old authentic house with history and a very friendly host, this is the place for you. The hosts Barbara and Josh are extraordinary, made us feel like home and they serve the best breakfast. I recommend this hotel and hope to return soon.

Authentic and friendly

Rothenburg ObTD is such a beautiful & colorful medieval city and our wonderful one night stay here accentuated that experience.

Klingentor is approximately a 15 min walk from the train station and just a very short walk to the Klingen gate of the walled city.

The room we had was of ample size and clean. Breakfast was personally prepared by our friendly hosts - George & Barbara - who made sure that our short visit was truly memorable.

What a great stay!  Hotel Klingentor was a 2 minute walk to that very gate entering into the walled city.  The hosts were among the friendliest people we met in Germany.  When we came down to breakfast, our table was announced with an American flag, and the other tables were similarly adorned with the guests' home flags.  The meal, service and friendship were top of the line. Accommodations were comfortable and roomy and we had a delightful from our window down on the enclosed garden  We even purchased a bottle of the hostess' home made schnapps.  We will definitely keep this hotel at the top of our list for future visits!

Great stay!

We had a great stay here. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were large and clean, not fancy, but what you would expect in a family home in Germany. The breakfast was wonderful and typically kept us satisfied until mid-afternoon. They do not serve dinner, but do offer beer, so you can sit outside on the patio and relax while having a nice cold German beer. The parking was free, which is huge in Rothenburg and you are only a 1 block walk from the Klingentor gate into the city. We would definitely stay here again.

Very warm and welcoming

We stayed here for just 1 evening. We had 2 rooms.  It is family run.  The woman greeted us and showed us where to park.  The gentleman helped us to our rooms and explained where everything was in the hotel and town.  He spoke English.  The rooms are simple and quite dated.  It was very quiet and there was free WiFi. It felt more like you were staying at a bed and breakfast than a hotel.  That being said, it had everything we needed and was relatively clean and quiet.  It is outside the town wall but only by a stones throw.  It was a very easy walk into the center of town.  Breakfast was plentiful and owner had an American Flag at our table.  It was fun to see the flags of the other guests.
It is an excellent value.
You really can't beat the price and the location.
They allowed us to leave our car in their lot after we checked out so we could spend a bit more time in the town.

Great Value

Don't expect amazing luxury, but do expect a very clean and well kept guesthouse with a lovely couple as wonderful hosts.
Nothing is a problem and they will attend to any question you have.
The rooms were all very spacious and the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom itself! 
The owner even kindly offered us bikes to rent for free along with bike locks. 
It's just a short walk from the old town and very easy to find.
The breakfast is great with lots of fresh cold meats, cheese, eggs and lovely breads, with plenty of coffee. A great way to start the day to a fantastic visit to Rothenburg.
We've stayed here 3 times now and hope some day we can come back again!
