14 reviewsPommersfelden is a small village with some 3,000 inhabitants in Upper Franconia – the closest city is Bamberg. The hotel “Grüner Baum” (German for “green tree”) is in the center of the village, right across from the church and on the opposite site of the beautiful Weissenstein country palace (“Schloss Weissenstein”). The hotel is spotless, very clean. Service is rather grumpy; helpful but lacking some genuine friendliness. It is a family run business in an old building and a new, renovated part. Internet worked fine for me (email / video streaming). Breakfast is served in the main room. Coffee or tea as well as mostly cheese, sausage, ham are served as well as hard-boiled eggs (upon request). It is pretty much the same day after day. My room was purposely furnished with everything being in a good to very good state of maintenance. Shower/toilet were very clean as well as the rest of the room. There was absolutely no noise at night. This is a typical, quite average German countryside hotel with acceptable to good standards. Despite some initial deceptions, I was happy with my stay and would consider returning. The rates are not cheap and breakfast is an additional 5 euros per person.
