If you travel the lake Bodensee Region, do make sure to include a stop at the Landhotel Zum Hirsch at the small town of Ostrach. Very cosy rooms, the nicest breakfast I have seen for a long time, with loads of local specialities. Do ask the very nice and helpful staff about sights around Ostrach and be amazed: scheduled on a business trip we ended up with a very interesting little hike at nearby Pfrunger Ried, a natural reserve in a swap-like area where you can watch storks and, if you are lucky (we were), even a very rare wild European turtle. Don't miss out dinner at Zum Hirschen, though: high quality local and traditional food and fine wines, at decent (albeit not cheap) prices.
